Death_Delirium 7
Mine would not come out no matter how hard I hit it, so I ended up having to cut it out. If you just cut across the sight you can get it out that way, but be careful not to cut past the sight into the gas tube if you decide to cut it out.
D-H 20
It takes a lot of force to knock out the rear sight. Don't be afraid to hit it as long as it is properly secured. Or if you can't knock it out and do not plan on ever using it again, you could just carefully cut it out of there.
john1761 0
Thanks for the advice. One question , did you just use a hack saw to cut it out? And I quess you mean by cutting it out you cut the sight in half as I need the mount to hold the replacement sight?
waltham_41 52
Personally I would use a dremmel with a cut off wheel if I were to cut it out Edited September 5, 2009 by waltham_41
NM0 586
+1 on dremmel. fast and easy.
john1761 0
So, just split the sight in half perpendicular to the barrel and then knock it out leaving the sight mount intact?
D-H 20
Yeah that's the idea for cutting it. A hacksaw will work, however slowly. But if you go the hacksaw route, you could probably use a punch to knock it out about halfway through cutting it.
NM0 586
So, just split the sight in half perpendicular to the barrel and then knock it out leaving the sight mount intact? Yup, I went about half way through (depth wise) on a diagonal and hit it once with a punch, was out in no time.
