nag55 0
I am looking to buy a Saiga Sgl 31. It is 5.45x39 made by Arsenal. I have a Tantal and was wondering if my German ak 74 mags will work? I am confused because I saw mention of a bullet guide on this forum and it has me a bit confused. Any info would be greatly apprecited.
schultze13 354
Yes your E.German mags will work in it, Arsenal welds a bullet guide in them when they convert them. The bullet guide everyone is talking about is for when you by a 5.45 saiga rifle still in the sporting form.
545x39mm 1
Yes your E.German mags will work in it, Arsenal welds a bullet guide in them when they convert them. The bullet guide everyone is talking about is for when you by a 5.45 saiga rifle still in the sporting form. Actually the bullet guide is riveted in just like any standard AK type rifle bullet guide. Not "welded" in as indicated above. And, as above your standard AK-74 mags will work just fine. Edited January 11, 2010 by 545x39mm

nag55 0
another question, would the sgl converted by arsenal be any better than a saiga 5.45 converted by red jacket? they both seem good. I love my saiga 12 from red jacket. would there be any advantages to the arsenal build?
TX-Zen 287
I think the collectibility of the SGL31 will be higher than the Red Jacket since it's as close to a true Russian factory built AK74M as you get. I'm sure Red Jacket's rifle will be top notch and function the same naturally, but IMO it probably won't have the same resale value if the SGLs go off the market. Arsenal SLR105's have a higher resale value than most kit rifles simply because it's considered to be the finest 5.45 factory rifle on the market and that they are out of production. Doesn't necessarily mean it shoots better than a kit rifle, but it's more collectible. Z Edited January 12, 2010 by TX-Zen

schultze13 354
I am not sure but I think aresenal takes out the bolt hold open on the ones they build where some other builders don't take them out. I don't have a aresenal but it looks that way in the pics. Can someone who has one say either way. I wish my buligarians had them.
