gfochu 1
I just got a S-12, i think its wonderful, but it could be better. I've been looking at mods you all have been doing through the tech section but I'm not finding the answers i want. Well, i'm probably over looking them....BUT q1. when you convert your trigger group does the manual "bolt hold open" stay in the same place, move forward with, or get discarded and a new one purchased...? q2. can you put an AR style stock with a buffer tube or are there any manufacturers of such a type? i think thats it. thanks Gabe
kresk 10,063
The BHO stays where it is. You can get a mercury tube for your original or other stock to reduce recoil. Think there are other 'buffers' but I'm just not that familiar with them. ?Cobra here on the forum may have something. He is a business member. Welcome to the forum! User preference as to whether you keep it or not. I like having it on mine, I keep a 5rnd mag of #4 locked, with the bolt open & ready to chamber a round. .................................................... 2) I take it your simply asking about mounting a AR tube/collapsible stock. Not about different types of recoil buffers available. Yes you can, and yes there are. Multiple ways to mount and multiple manufacturers offering products, e.g. VLTOR AK tube adapter, screws right onto unmodified receiver and uses any MilSpec collapsible stock. Similar offerings by CAA/EMA allows use of Commercial collapsible stocks. VLTOR: http://www.cheaperth...m/AKS469-6.html EMA: http://store.carolin...lapsible/Detail You can also use a Tapco T6 which also screws on to a unmodified receiver. I used one for quite awhile, it served well, but wasn't 100% satisfactory. It angles down of the receiver and this may increase perceived recoil, it is polymer, it looks cheap (derogatory) and I didn't like it's aesthetics. Buy the best and you'll only pay once & cry once. Tapco T6: http://store.carolin...BLE-AK47/Detail Or you can modify the receiver (cut the tang off), install a internal receiver block and mount either a straight or folding tube adapter. Straight would be a receiver block like this, http://store.carolin...RECEIVER/Detail and one of these, http://store.carolin...IGA-AK47/Detail and then whichever tube/stock floats your boat. Folding would be the receiver block and then one of these, http://store.carolin...ing-AR15/Detail Shitload of conversion stock options offered by CarolinaShootersSupply.com, http://store.carolin...IONS/Categories Here is mine with the VLTOR AK tube adapter and VLTOR EMod stock. Cobra 76 two 2,677
And as tritium was saying, once you have this type of stock there are ways to mount a mercury recoil reducer inside the tube, which is a service I offer.
gfochu 1
I'm not set on an AR stock, just something like it to reduce recoil. my s12 is stock except for the tapco six position, so i've got long way to go...i want to optimize my gun for ranged slug shooting. I went to the range yesterday and was shooting tight groups with the stock iron sights at 75yrds. (remington rifled sluggers) I want to put a low powered scope and see what kinda range i could get.thanks for the input guys. pretty machine chili

gfochu 1
oh yeah...whilst at the range yesterday.....uh...there were 4 transvestites with a lot of firepower. not the kind you see that are hot untill you realize what they are(i DONT think trannys are hot) but these were 50 yr old men in high heels shooting AR's. I know its off subject but how f'n weird is that.!
