I use a Larue LT-FUG.... and it never beats me up. I think the AFG would be good on a truck gun. Less grip to hang on things. Sorry to hear you aren't loving that grip. I'll try shooting it a few more times to see if it's correctable, I may just shave the lip down. I do like how it puts your hand in an ergonomic position (I used to be strictly VFG).
