BSWilson 1
So I finally got to stretch my .308's legs today shooting between 200-500 yards at a local steel-laden range and had an absolute blast. With that said, the day's shooting really has me wanting some sort of magnified optic for the rifle. I'm primarily leaning towards one of the $100 4x24 scopes that's been popping up a lot lately, but thought I'd fish for more options. Any other suggestions, maybe something mounted on a TWS rail? Here's the scope I'm referring to: http://www.centerfiresystems.com/drasco.aspx Edited May 17, 2010 by BSWilson

Here's the scope I'm referring to: http://www.centerfir...com/drasco.aspx This is not POSP. Romanian LSP Expect it not to be illuminated as the scope is most likely about 20-30 years old and element half life is only 12 years. The isotopes are not replaceable. Oh, it also has SVD mount, not AK, so it will not sit tight Edited May 17, 2010 by BKLYN_C
BSWilson 1
This is good to know. So what does fit? Edited May 17, 2010 by BSWilson
Floyd9 30
I have that scope on my .223, and it locks up fine. I found you have to slide it onto the rail from the front though. Rock-solid. Like was mentioned earlier, there is no illumination.
BSWilson 1
Awesome, so well worth the price of admission?

Like was mentioned earlier, there is no illumination. There is a big difference between 223 and 308 recoil. Due to the fact that you slide the scope from the front and incorrect adapter, after few shots the scope will slide up front and eventually will get lose. Been there. The fix was to drill a hole in the mount of the scope and put a screw to keep it in place. On the picture you can see the threaded hole
ChileRelleno 7,071
Buy side mount, preferably one that is centerline above the receiver and then mount a decent riflescope. Example: Kalinka centered side mount, http://www.primaryar...&categoryId=103 Leupold Rifleman: http://www.leupold.c...leman-3-9x40mm/ Of course you'll need a set of rings too... $350+/- and you'll be much better off that with something that doesn't fit quite right and is older than your daddy. tawm 0
I wouldn't trust Kalinka, as I always hear horrid things about them. If you still want an east bloc optic, try East Wave products. I got my PK-AS-S red dot from there for a very good price and it has performed flawlessly (and they provided batteries and English instructions for zeroing without me asking). http://www.eastwave.ca/products/scopes/posp8x42vd.html http://www.eastwave.ca/products/scopes/posp2.5-5x24.html http://www.eastwave.ca/products/scopes/posp4x24v.html Those should be what you're looking for, cheers. I prefer Kalinka over Eastwave. (I've ordered from both). I received my POSP from Kalinka in 3 days. It took a month for my PK-AS from Eastwave to arrive, and it came without an adjustment tool! I finally convinced them to send one, and it took a month and a half to arrive.
loki0629 55
I just bought the Barska AO SKS scope (4x21) and should be getting it in a few days. If I get it in time for the weekend I'll mount it and see how it does. I already have the Izhmash/Saiga side mount with the 1" (-ish) rings. I have a 30mm scope but I wanted something leaner to be able to use the blade sights. I looked at these older scopes but as best as I could figure out, the adjustment system moves the reticles around in the scope (as opposed to remaining centered). I don't think I'm gonna be a fan of that but I like the reticle. The Barska has an SKS reticle etched in the glass and uses the modern adjustment system I'm more familiar with. If it doesn't hold up to the recoil, I won't have invested much into the process and I'll throw it onto one of my 22's.

Unless your side rail is horribly misaligned, you likely will not notice having moved the reticle a smidge in this or that direction. I love the ability the POSP gives you for making on-the-fly windage and elevation adjustments with just a turn of the dial.
