Has any one moved the FSB back to the gas block and then moved/replaced the rear sight to the receiver cover. You'll gain a little more sight radius which should help and for me it would get the sights closer to my weak eyes and help my sight picture. I'm thinking about the ar sight adapted to the cover. I think it looks good or I might try to make a mounting plate for the stock rear sight.

I've never done the modification myself, but it looks pretty straightforward to do it yourself. There's a really good tutorial on this website:

Your sight radius would be improved if you left the front sight block alone, and mounted a sight on the dust cover.

As you describe it, you're really not gaining anything.

Thanks for the answer. I've got the A1 sight mod saved, but I haven't seen the other 2. I did a search and didn't get much. My FSB is pinned in place so it should be easier to get off then the dimpled style and it looks like it's already threaded under the shroud so all I would have to do is fill in for the 2 pins slots/holes and repaint and decide on a muzzle break or flash suppressor. Sure wish I had a tig welder.

I was thinking of just sliding the FSB back to the front of the gas block, so I would gain about 2-1/2" to 3 inches depending on where I mount the rear sight. Probably not worth the trouble, but it would help me with my getting a better sight picture with the rear sight moved back, but then new bifocals may help too. Plus I do like the look better, just my opinion.
