I have been trying to create an extended quad rail for my 7.62 Saiga by modifying existing products but thus far have not been successful.

There are 2 issues:

  •
  • Gas Tube Lever
  • Top area of the rear site mount

If you cut around the gas tube lever and make it high enough to fit over the rear site mount it ends up sitting to high.

I have a premise that might solve this but I doubt many people would try it.

What if you removed the gas tube lever and ground down the top of the tunion so that the rail fit better.

When you remove the material from the rear site mount you could leave a U shaped recess. Then the top part of the quad rail could have a pin or bolt that fit into that recess which would lock the gas tube in place.

Does that sound like it would work?

IF NOT

Does anyone make an extended quad rail for a 7.62 Saiga or AK?

I'm not too sure, if I happened to have a throwaway, so-beat-up-it's-not-worth-keeping, rifle I'd probably give it a try.

I wanna say Carolina Shooter Supply would be your best bet to take a look, I think I've seen one on there. Dunno if that's what you're looking for though. I can PM you the link if you'd like.
