ufo724 0
Hey guys I like to be prepared. So I like to keep ammo and my .308 next to my bed. Anyways is it bad for the spring to keep 1 bullet in the mag. Ive noticed thats theres just enough room for 1 bullet without putting pressure on the springs. What you you guys think? G O B 3,516
Your spring should be just fine, if you put in all but 1 bullet. 3 in a 4 rounder, 7 in an 8 rounder. Maybe 17 1n a twenty rounder. Compressing the spring is OK, but by not compressing it ALL the way you extend the life conciderally. G O B
KySoldier 2
308 for home defense huh? GOB's right, keep em less than full and try out the mags periodically to ensure reliability.
G O B 3,516
Also-- if.308 is all you have, then it is the DEFAULT HD. However-AS SOON AS YOU CAN get a shotgun for HD. A .308 is far too powerfull, and will overpenetrate everything. A shotgun with #1-through#4 shot is the preferred tool. G O B
grizzlybigbore 0
i actually made some HD loads. I used a lyman cast 171 grain round nose with i think 13 grains of unique. wayyyyy reduced recoil(not that the saiga isnt pleasant as it is) and no wall-penetration. I recall having to up the charge, because the first loads i did failed to cycle the gun. good loads though, and cheap.
