VaiFanatic90 360
When I chamber a round, the bolt carrier stops short off going forward all the way. I can actually see the base of the round still. Using the Tula 7.62x39 ammo. Anyone have any ideas? I've field stripped it and put it back together as always about 5 times now, and it still does it. Edit: Also tried it with standard Saiga 10 round mag, SureFire 30, and ProMag 30. Having issues on all three. Edit #2: Disregard this. It turns out in my efforts to avoid any accidental slam fire, I wasn't letting the carrier go forward fast enough. XD Edited July 2, 2010 by VaiFanatic90

Do all of the magazines click positively in?
VaiFanatic90 360
Didn't have to file any, they all click as they should. I chambered and ejected 5 rounds out of each just to make sure. All worked.

So I learned, haha, everything checks out now. I do need to pop in a bullet guide after I finally get around to ordering the damn parts to even convert the thing so I can make use of those free mags from our friends in Iraq
t3mac21 1
Yeah just cock it back and let it go. If you try and slow it down it'll get stuck.
VaiFanatic90 360
Yeah just cock it back and let it go. If you try and slow it down it'll get stuck. Bingo, I learned that after doing some test to see if that was in fact the case, and it was. I'm just cautious because I've seen people have slam-fire accidents with their ARs, and heard that it can happen to the SKS's as well. They chamber one round, and BAM!, they just unintentionally emptied out their 30 rounds.
t3mac21 1
The firing pin isn't going to have nearly enough energy from just the momentum to fire anything off. Take your dustcover off and dry fire it. watch how hard the hammer actually slams the firing pin. It takes a good amount of force to set the primer off. You're good to go. I could see it happening..."maybe" if it wasn't maintained or shot in years and the firing pin was stuck forward.
VaiFanatic90 360
Well, that's good news for sure then. Now I don't need to be so cautious when testing mags to make sure they feed. Thanks a bunch. This was most definitely a noob moment for me, but I'm not afraid to admit it, haha. I've just seen too many slam-fires happen. It's not a pretty sight. t3mac21 1
Just don't have the ejection port aimed at any windows/glass when you go to eject the round. AK's fucking toss them, and when it's a live round it's pretty fucking heavy. Almost broke my fishtank onetime.
VaiFanatic90 360
Haha, yeah, I've noticed they can pack a punch. Smacked my buddy who walked right by, hahahahahah XD I did warn him though!
MN.9130 44
so I can make use of those free mags from our friends in Iraq This statement has greatly piqued my interest: exactly what do you mean?

Oh noes! You discovered my secret!! Nah, haha. When my friends and family members returned from their deployments, they brought some mags they had found. EDIT: However, I'm not sure of their compatibility. I've yet to dig them out of a box after having moved recently. Edited July 2, 2010 by VaiFanatic90
Rhodes1968 1,638
Some new Saigas have this problem it clears up with break-in and I suggest using plain old Wolf for it as it seems to have more abrasion.
VaiFanatic90 360
Well, the Tula did the trick, just chambered and ejected 5 from each mag.
