BronCobraJet 80
OK. I'm calm now. it just sucks to see such relatively young people make such stupid decisions. And it sucks going to work every other day and even wondering if you are going to make it home. Yesterday, the RR here had a huge derailment. Wiped out 3 main lines for 6 miles. Thank God no one was killed. Two trains, an eastbound and a westbound hit each other in the middle. Both were going through a crossover at the same spot. A couple of years ago, something like this happened, and the main locomotive ended up on it's side, and the Engineer had to dig out the Conductor through the Conductor's window on the side(now top) because the coal had filled up the cab. Imagine thinking Wow I lived through it, while you are buried up to your neck in coal, and then realizing it could catch fire and you could burn to death. There was huge chunks of rail spearing the locomotive from front to back. luckily, no one was killed in that one. Yeah, I did a lot of stupid stuff when I was a kid, too. But dancing with a train wasn't one of them. Shit happens.
Bvamp 604
well, just thought I would chime in that a very good and charitable uncle of mine, whom the entire tri county area knew well back home, and who married into my family and was well liked, was killed a few years ago by a train on xmas eve on a blind corssing that had no signal. ....btw, my aunt now knows ralph nader, and there are crossing signs in some obscure spots now that work.... love to see kids playing games. maybe they wont fall under them and lose both legs like another fellow I know did.... Kliegl 304
Some people have the balls, and don't need to prove it to themselves, nor anyone else, by doing dumb things. I don't fuck around with trains because it's dangerous, and there's no reward. Now, if someone jumps me, am I going to cower and be killed? No, I'd fight. I might lose, but I'd fight since there's reward in that risky behavior (not being killed.)

I'm very sorry to hear that Ben. The RR's are actually working hard at taking out as many xings as they can to prevent this. In some rural areas that is very hard to do. My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss.
