Chubby 1 Posted October 9, 2010 Report Share Posted October 9, 2010 Although I enjoy looking at the many tricke- out rifles on this forum, I am not looking for another hobby to drain my money supply - therefore I would like to purchase a low cost, effective recoil pad for the stock plastic butt of my 308. Does Limbsaver, or any other brand make a slip over, or is there one that can simply screw on the replace the stock butt cap? I have searched this site and looked at many of the pics but I am net yet familiar with all the brand names, models, shapes and sizes for the but stocks and decelerators/pads you write about from article to article so I figured I would just straight up ask. yellowcarbon 4 Posted October 10, 2010 Report Share Posted October 10, 2010 If there is a Cabellas or Sportsman's Warehouse near by, they both stock several brands of slip over recoil pads. They also have a bunch of screw on version if you are interested. But, with the screw on versions, you will need to make sure the screw points match up or modify the stock to accept new ones. Chubby 1 Posted October 10, 2010 Author Report Share Posted October 10, 2010 why thank you Astrowrench and Yellowcarbon - I did some more searching and found that the large Limbsaver slip on would fit, called around a few stores and picked one up this afternoon.
