csmw 98
Besides the normal polishing of bolt, carrier, and trigger parts.... 3 port gun w/ 18-19" bbl....add an extra port and open up gas block for clearance. 3 or 4 port gun w/ 12" bbl and standard length gas tube...need total of 6 ports, open up gas block to accomidate new ports. Works like a champ. Also you can add weld to the ejector and recut it leaving a 1/4" longer ejector. With 12" bbls and factory length gas tubes, and bbl throating...my 12" gun(s) run 100% on any low brass ammo. Hope this helps someone. Matt @ C&S Metall-Werkes
PYRO 44
Also you can add weld to the ejector and recut it leaving a 1/4" longer ejector. Matt @ C&S Metall-Werkes Do you have any photos of this, in the process of being done. Sorry but I am not following what you said, Do you mean the ramp extends 1/4" farther back or ramps up 1/4" taller so the ramp is at a steeper angle? Thanks
Shadoh 16
I believe he means that he makes it longer so that it engages the back of the extracting shell sooner. That it would start kicking the shell out of the gun sooner. Will that cause a problem with 3" shells? Thank you for this post. Great information. epbullen 21
+1 for any photos/videos of this being done 'specially on the 12" Edited October 18, 2010 by Bullensmash
csmw 98
This looks kinda rough looking, but it gives you an idea. I took the pic off of our old prototype/experimental gun, where all of the stuff (was) done roughly. Edited October 18, 2010 by C&S Metall-Werkes
PYRO 44
Thanks for the photo.
csmw 98
Here is the pic of a 12" 5-port gun. Eventually, I did the math and made the ports smaller and added a sixth (I don't have any 6-port guns here to take a pic, but you get the idea). Hope this stuff helps someone out. Shadoh 16
What size are the ports? What size would they be on a 6 port gun? Again, thanks for sharing the information. I am looking to shorten mine to 11.5 and keep the block in the same place.
csmw 98
Shadoh, Unfortunately I don't have any 6-port guns here and can't find my blueprints/notes for any of the saiga stuff. The only gun I have here is my personal gun, the prototype for all of the mods we came up with. I can't measure the holes because my ventilated heat-sheild is welded to the gas block. I have only done a about 15 guns, and they were mostly for friends, so I am not big into building them. Good luck! Edited April 14, 2011 by C&S Metall-Werkes
Shadoh 16
Again, thanks for the info. Does the extended ejector have any problems with 3" shells?
csmw 98
THats a good question....I honestly don't know. Never fired a 3" and don't have any 3" hulls to check. I would say do a little measuring, and see what it looks like. If there are issues, you can always gradually cut the ejector back untill it works with the 3" shells.
