MikeMacCham 8
Hey guys, so I am...or was...about to cut my Saiga 7.62 barrel from 20" to 16.5, crown it and use a dye to rethread a brake. But someone mentioned that it could cause short stroking... so does anyone know if the gas port size is different on a 20" barrel vs a 16" barrel on a Saiga 7.62...? Cause the spin ratio is the same (1x9").
The Sarge 34
In the barrel? 12mm I believe....in both.... Edited October 22, 2010 by The Sarge
Bug Splat 2
Nice! There you go Mike, IF they are both the same gas port size you can cut yours down to 16 inches without worry.
MikeMacCham 8
Thanks BugSplat lol you're on here too huh. and thanks Sarge! I had been asking on here about it ,and somone mentioned that I could cut the spring 1/2" or buy a lighter spring instead of having to mess with the gas port right away. imarangemaster 315
You mean 1.2mm I hope. 12mm would be pretty big!!!!!!!!!!
MikeMacCham 8
Thanks Ranger, I was wondering about that. I actually talked to RAAC the rep said he believed the gas ports were the same size in the 16" and 20", although no one had asked before. He said just dont cut it below 16.3" and it should be fine, I have asked several of the GURU's/ SME's on here and onther sites, and the ones that were cool enough to reply said it should work fine. So as soon as I get the gear in the mail i'm goin for it... Edited October 25, 2010 by MikeMacCham
