  1. I just got in some MC 124HP last week and some black box wolf 122HP from Midway. Neither has the sealant. I pulled both bullets and they are indeed different. The rear of the bullets are different. Length they are exactly the same. Here are a few specs... MC: bullet weight: 123.8gr Thinner copper jacket Inner jacket grooves: YES Sealant: NO SA03 stamp on box BB: Bullet weight: 123.1gr Thicker copper jacket inner jacket grooves: NO Sealant: NO SA03 stamp on box
  2. Thanks guys for all the help. I have decided not to go with a peep but keep the same stock sights. I have ordered a Ultimak gas tube and will be mounting my Aimpoint on it to co-witness. I have come to except that I will not be able to get the exact sight picture I want. Even with the best options out there I don't really like the view. I'll just have to get my iron sight jollies from my AR's. Thanks again.
  3. Did you order the 124 hp? Classic 8m3 hp 124 gr has been used for a couple of years but recently wolf made some changes and I have not seen the latest batches. If they are 124 gr then I would bet it stayed the same. Yup, 124gr Should be here next week
  4. Thanks but I don't think there is any way I could spend that much. The Saiga itself only cost me $300.
  5. I'm a Cali POW too. If you have not already, check out Calguns.net . I bet you could find a member on your block that knows a few great places.
  6. Great info guys. Just placed an order for a few hundred Classic HP rounds. Didn't know classic and black box were so different. I don't plan on hunting with it but for Zombies, I want the better of the two.
  7. What about Tech-Sights? Do those hold zero well after removing and reinstalling them?
  8. Awesome, looking forward to pics when you are done. Don't forget a couple before and after shots.
  9. Took my Saiga out for the first time today and it ran great. My only complaint is the rear sights (shocker right?). I'd like to get a rear peep sight for a better sight picture but I'd like a rear sight app large enough to include the front sight side guards like this.... I don't want the rear app so small that just the post is visible. Will the Mojo sights do this? Thanks
  10. Nice! There you go Mike, IF they are both the same gas port size you can cut yours down to 16 inches without worry.
  11. If the rifle is in the DOJ banned list it does not matter what non-evil features you have, its banned. This is where the term "Off List Lower" comes from, its off the banned list so its legal to have in Cali. You might want to check that out. If it really is banned and the dealer sold it to you he could be in very deep crap if the DOJ finds out. Its a felony for you to own it as well.
  12. Boresnake, CLP, old rag. I treat my trunk guns like redheaded step children. Just enough love to keep them going but no extra effort. After 500 or so rounds I'll run the boresnake through and wipe down the bolt and other parts both with CLP. I might do a detail strip and clean once a year. Ask me how I treat my nice AR's or Competition bolt guns and thats a WHOLE different story. They are meticulously cleaned after ever range trip with bore guides and q-tips. I do this for top accuracy and just making them look good.
  13. The Saiga mags are not your typical AK mags. They have a higher front lip which acts as the bullet guide. This was done so that the Saiga could be imported into the USA. Its an easy and cheap process to add a bullet guide so its really no big deal for most people. EDIT: Geez what an asshole
  14. So is the Tapco stock any good? Unfortunately those of us stuck behind the iron curtain called Cali don't have a practical option. Many here do trade function over style and move the FCG and add a maglock. Kinda silly if you ask me seeing as there is a very acceptable option right from the factory. I have looked at the OEM FCG to see if I could fab something that would work more like a true AK FCG. There sure is a lot of slop in the saiga trigger.
  15. Thanks for the info guys. What I really want is a Levang Comp but can't find an equal in the right caliber or threading. I like the brake so much that I might just re-tap it and open up the hole to the right size. I have them on a few of my rifles and just love the lower sound levels, reduced muzzle climb and flash suppression.
