NRAJOE 0
Bought a FR-8 off a friend for $150 dollars with sling and bayonet Saturday: Metal finish is about 97%...wood is about 95% with just a couple dings and gouges. Barrel is beautiful...about 98%. Sadly bolt does not match the receiver (28 numbers off) but I hear this is no biggie as alot of them were like this. My friend put about 50 rounds through it so headspace is good.

Vaarok 0
Careful what you feed it! It's chambered for 7.62x51 CETME, not 7.62x51 NATO or .308 Winchester. Spanish ammo is MUCH milder loaded than even military, much less commerical super-duper hunting ammo. Don't blow yourself up!
G O B 3,516
FR-8 is a large ring Mauser, and should be as strong as anything out there. The M1916 Spanish mausers like I have are the small ring, and they are not as robust as the large ring, but are still plenty strong for 7.62 Nato. M1916, FR-7 and FR-8 were chambered for 7.62 Nato. G O B <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup...FR-7's are small ring chambered for the 7.62x51 lower pressure CETME rd... FR-8's are large ring and are chambered for 7.62x51 NATO.... I bought some S.African surplus battle packs of ammo to put through it. Edited May 26, 2005 by NRAJOE
BattleRifleG3 16
I applaud you, NRAJOE, for replying succintly and respectfully. Knowing how long this has been hashed over and how often this comment has been mistakenly made, I was on the verge of replying with some expression of insanity.
