KC913 324
Do any of you know the proper inner diameter for the right clearance on a '74 type brake using a 7.62x39 round? Maybe one of you with an Arsenal 7.62x39 can use a micrometer and tell me the inner diameter of their 7.62x39 '74 type brake? I've got a '74 zig zag brake on the way and I don't want to just start dremeling or drilling it out without an idea of where I need to be. Any info is appreciated. jgillaspy 24
I used a 3/8" drill bit (.400"). The steel is VERY tough, but a good bit went right through it. JG
Mullet Man 2,114
I'm curious as well. I just picked up a Bulgarian zigzag for use on my iz132. I tested out an unfired cartridge (Brown Bear) thru the holes and i'm able to get the case neck to fit thru them up to the shoulder. Does anyone think this would be a safe amount of clearance? A 5.45 projectile would have quite a bit more in comparison. I wonder if it would be a good idea to measure the opening, then measure a 5.45 bullet and duplicate the difference of opening to bullet of that, on the 7.62? KC913 324
There's a good discussion about using 7.62x39 in a 74 brake someplace on the 7.62x39 forum. I was just looking for proper diameter.
