NedPepper 0
S! I'm wondering if it would be legal to thread the pinned-on front sight and then add a muzzle break? I followed someones link over to Dyna systems and fiqured this might be a good way if it was legal.
Sheik Yerbouti 0
Well, the rules say "muzzle" not "barrel", so I am guessing that if you threaded the sight shroud, you'd be violating someone's rules. I am thinking that since there are only two pins holding the FSB on, that it would not be hard to remove the pins, press teh shroud off, and install a military FSB. That way, you have the threads and all the military style brakes available to you (make sure you get a US-made one, if parts count is an issue). Of course, if the asinine AWB expires this fall, we don't need to discuss things like this...

Tengu 0
Suppose you removed a piece of the barrel shroud in front of the sight (seems to me a tubing cutter might work) and then threaded the exposed part and screwed on your US made muzzle brake?
Sheik Yerbouti 0
As long as you "permanently" attach it so that the threads are not acessible, you are OK. "Permanently" has been construed to mean blind pinning, hi-temp silver soldering, or welding. There is a BATF Tech Branch letter on the approved procedures over on recguns.com. You may do it, you just have to do it "right".
