pinetopfirefighter 34
With way too much time on my hands this weekend, I decided to complete the x39 conversion with a BG. So, following cross-conn instructions to some degree I got a piece of 3/4 pipe and started cutting. With typical handtools, it took awhile (hacksaw, file, hand drill) but I got it!! Just really wanted to see if I could make one more than anything. My standard crap titanium drill bits and a bit of lubrication oil worked surprisingly well drilling through the trunnion. I did not tap it however. I drilled through the trunnion stopping short of the receiver. The recessed bolt fits nicely through the BG and trunnion and there was just enough space for my needlenose pliers to hold the nut in place just between the trunnion and receiver. As soon as I get a milsurp mag, I will try it out to make sure it feeds well, then lock tight it in place. heres a pic, sorry my camera on my phone sucks. stnls1911 55
I tried the loctite, but found it messy, especially when trying to tighten down the screw. I now use a lock nut to hold mine in. Great job on the homemade BG
