jam61 0
I recently had my 308 converted and because I didn't feel comfortable doing it(i.e. lack of skills) I had a gunsmith do it. It turned out very nice and I'm pleased with the work. I went and bought 4 - 30 round mags (Pmags) and haven't tried them out yet.But I was reading someone's thread on this board and they mentioned that in order to use Pmags I need to hae a bullet guide installed. I don't think I had that done. So what does that mean? Those Pmags won't work now? If so, then where can I get a bullet mag at? Also, I was wanting to put a break on it that is threaded with the front site welded to it? Can someone tell me where to buy one at and what size to get? Thanks a lot, Joe
gregomega 929
308 I don't think require a bullet guide. Your mags should work fine. A pic of the muzzle might help determine what you're talking about as far as muzzle threads go
Fallschirmjager667 729
a .308 does not require a bullet guide, and i do not think there are any 30rd mags made for the s308, and i don't think there are any s308 pmags either.
schultze13 354
The 308 Pmags are 20rders and will not work in a saiga they are for AR-10 308 based weapons NOT AK based weapons. The mags you should of got are surefire 25rd 308 mags, Uinta 20 rd mags( witch are great), or some Csspecs metal mag. You live and you learn.
csspecs 1,987
Pmags are made by Magpul and are available in 20 round only for the .308. As mentioned they are for AR-10 rifles. 30 round Pmags by magpul would only come in .223/5.56x45. 'Pmag' is sometimes said when people are referring to promag which is a totally different company. The promag is visually similar to a magpul Pmag. Picture of Pmag AR-10 magazine http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=MMag243Blk&name=Magpul+Polymer+20rd+.308+(7.62x51) Each mag has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Mine are a touch spendy and do weigh more (metal is heavier than plastic). As stated options for the .308 saiga are: Csspecs http://stores.csspecs.com/-strse-5/saiga-308-metal-magazine/Detail.bok Uinta http://uintaindustries.com/product-line/parts/ SGM http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-53/Saiga-7.62x51-308-25/Detail Promag http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-532/Promag-Saiga-308-24/Detail
jam61 0
Thanks all for the help. At least I didn't screw up as bad as I thought. Yes, that is a 20 round mag, my bad, not a 30. I'm going to try and send it back but I don't have the receipt.
