bolt carrier stuck

Recommended Posts

I have a 5.45 saiga which I converted. I shot it a bunch a few months ago and I cleaned it with a lot of windex and hoppe's 9 then put hoppe's gun oil in the barrel and chamber and a light amount of lithium grease around the action anywhere moving surfaces met. I had left the gun loaded for the time it was unused so it does have a round in the chamber right now but I treat all guns as if they're loaded anyways. I went to look at it just a bit ago to make sure it wasn't getting rusty and I cannot open the action. I can wiggle the bolt carrier a tiny amount so it looks like the bolt itself is stuck. I did a quick search for this problem and someone suggested to use penetrating oil to hopefully free it up. Any other help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Cool I got it apart, lots of penetrating oil and a rubber mallet worked great. Now to thoroughly clean it and apply lube correctly. I'm just not sure how if my previous attempt obviously failed.

Sounds like maybe too much oil was left in the chamber and it glued the round inside. Run dry patches through the chamber/barrel after oiling. You just need a very light coat of oil, it shouldn't be "wet" inside. A bore snake works pretty well too.
