Oldwheat 0
......I am (finally) getting around to rounding up parts for my conversion....I have FCG parts & pistol grip on order from Tapco....Now, what are the best options for a US made stock?....Probly NATO length, not folding or Krinkov style, just a good, sturdy, plain, black stock...... ..On closer scrutiny, I am considering the K-Var #020BUS unless there are some better suggestions ......................... BattleRifleG3 16
If you like a fixed AK style stock the K-var one is a good idea. I have used them on two conversions. The material is a great match for the Tapco US made grip, Polish synthetic mag, and Saiga synthetic forend.
SaigaShooter 0
well, your only real choices are (for 922r compliance) A tapco or ACE folder, or one of the K-var models (warsaw pact or nato length) I have the nato length stock.

h8mtv 0
Good choice. I hate Ar parts on Ak's. Tapco needs to make some less "TO THE MAX!!!" parts. Kvar could use some competition.
uzitiger 193
You can make your own stock out of Baltic birch plywood. I took two 3/4 thick pieces and epoxied them together to make a stock. I then cut the shape and rounded the corners the length is the same as the factory sporter Saiga stock. Cut the part that fits in the trunnion to shape using the 'sporter' stock as model, if you make a mistake then use epoxy filler to compensate it. Baltic birch plywood is very strong will count as a US made part.
LeadMonkey 0
Wow thats a great way to save $$$. I heard cardboard with epoxy is even better. Edited August 27, 2005 by LeadMonkey
charger SE 0
akparts.com has a few economical wood stocks, skeleton style or the regular type. They ain't pretty, but they work. They're just made for a little truck bedliner paint
BattleRifleG3 16
Just make sure you consider parts compliance. Using such a stockwould mean you'd have to find another part to make compliant. I favor the buttstock, P-grip, and FCG being us made. Replaces the parts you'd replace anyway doing the conversion. steve 1
I have the K-var Nato leingth stock on my S-12 and it fits me well. I have a long trigger pull 36" sleve leingth. I get a pertty good cheek weld using a low mount scope attachment with a bushnel 30mm red dot scope. on my 7.62 I have an Izmash scope mount that is higher than my red dot and I am saving my nickels and dimes for an Ace stock because they also have a cheek pad attachment to help raise my cheek pacement on the stock to make viewing through the scope more consistant and with the different buttpads and spacers and stock leingths Ace offers I can order what I need to fit the stock to my needs I hopes this helps!
