Koaltrane 1
Hello, I have a converted Saiga that I bought converted. I was wanting to put some wood furniture on it and was wondering if a US made gas tube would count as a 922 compliance part? I have found some wood furniture for my rifle but it is a Romanian set for an AK47. I know the retainer ring from Dinzagarms would count as a compliance part but I'm wondering if, and I'm pretty sure it would, a US made gas tube would count too, since I am taking off two compliance parts (the crap Tapco plastic stock, and ergonomic pistol grip). If that doesn't work then I will have a US made flash hider/muzzle brake installed which should count as a compliance part, if I am thinking correctly. Thanks, Jordan
Mullet Man 2,114
Nope. A US gas piston counts but not a gas tube. Edited February 10, 2012 by Mullet Man
Koaltrane 1
Thanks guess I'll have to add a US made flash hider or something.
haugpatr 972
A hand guard retainer does not count as a part for 922. You need to read about 922, based on your first post, you just don't get it.
Koaltrane 1
There's no need to be rude about it. I was asking about it, and I have looked at the 922 stuff, all I have found is stuff for the shotguns, and the basic stuff for the rifles, like triggers, grips ect. Wasn't trying to be rude, just suggesting you go to the 922 section here, there are links to checklists.
Koaltrane 1
From what I have found, I have a sear, trigger and hammer and if I put a yugo stock set on the rifle and still use US made mags I should be in the clear. Stock set includes pistol grip, stock, and forgrips. Am I correct?
haugpatr 972
I believe you are correct.
Koaltrane 1
Or I could add a US made flash suppressor/muzzle brake and a US made gas piston and use whatever mags I wanted? Since I would only be removing two parts that are US made being the pistol grip and stock.
