Saiga_rom 91
After coming back from the range the other day I dissembled my AKM to clean it, and noticed that the gas piston and bolt assembly had become somewhat loose, whereas normally, the piston and bolt assembly would be firmly connected, there now is slight wobble in the piston. I was wondering what the severity of this is, is it ok to ignore? or should i invest in a new bolt/gas piston assembly?
haugpatr 972
It is quite common on AK's, nothing to worry about.
Saiga_rom 91
thanks hog, im glad to hear that. the piston/bolt assembly still seemed solid enough, but i was concerned because non of my other AK variants have this issue.
haugpatr 972
I would maybe be concerned on a Saiga 12 but with the rifles many people have had your same concern.
Saiga_rom 91
thats understandable. as it is, the gas piston on my s12 and s308 are solid, same for my draco too. this issue is only present on the full size AKM, which is a WASR10. i just wanted to make sure this wasnt a problem which could lead to a kaboom if i ignored it.
