A few ?'s regarding stocks..

Recommended Posts

I'm swapping out the m4 style collapsable stock on my s-12 with an old MOE stock. I already have a limbsaver on the m4 stock that ide like to scrap out and put on the moe if at all possible, but my question is this.. is it possible to put a limbsaver on an moe, and also which recoil pad would be most preferable on the MOE? The limbsaver, an ati scorpion but pad(assuming it will fit properly), or the pads they make especially for MOE's?

And another question while were on the subject... i plan on putting a chaos titan rail with chaos hk sights on at some point soon. With an internal receiver block and pig nose set up, would a riser be necessary/preferable on the MOE stock. If so, what size is optimal?

Thanks, Jeff

I'd just get the extended Magpul buttpad for the MOE stock, they're only like $15 and made to work without any extra hassle. I just switched out from an ace stock to an MOE on a buffer tube with a pignose adapter and couldn't be happier with the setup.... also running an extended MOE pad.

Also.. you'll probably need a riser for those sights on the Chaos rail. I had the extended quad with sights for a while and couldn't get a very good weld with the ace stock. Not sure how your setup will work out, but you'd probably be better off to get everything but a riser to begin with and see how that works. Then you can decide if you need some extra height on the stock or not after you test it out.

The chaos rail will put your sights a good bit higher than your factory sights though. My factory sights were too low, and the HK sights on the rail were too high for my tastes.

I'm currently running just the factory front sight bead all by itself, and I've been more accurate with that that I've ever been with any other setup on that gun.

Thanks, definantly appreciate the information! Another question tho, with the internal receiver block and pig nose adapter set up, isnt that all adjustable? Meaning the riser wouldn't be necessary at all? I thought that i had read it was but maybe I'm mistaken.

Yeah... if you've already got the internal receiver block and you're using a pignose, you're good to go.. there's quite a bit of ajustability in the height of your stock there. You most likely won't have to worry about any kind of riser. I wasn't sure if you were using the CAA or Vltor buffer tube options that attach to your factory tang or not.

I haven't checked my chaos rail out with my moe/pignose setup yet... since I switched to the Kvar handguard. I really like the way it handles as it is now.

Limbsaver makes a slip on pad for the M4 stock which is real nice, I adapted it to work with a CTR with minimal effort.
