Options for FH on Saiga?

Have a NIB Saiga 5.45 coming into my FFL tomorrow. Gonna do the back end conversion probably next weekend.

 

Question is, I want to have a flash hider and not a 74 break on it. What are my options?

 

Especially, what are my options that don't involve replacing the stock FSB?

Not sure actually; I believe it's a 240. I'll know for sure tomorrow.

If it's the 240, there's no way around replacing the fsb if you want a flash hider or muzzle break. The 340 aleady has the threaded fsb, but has a cap that welded and pressed on I believe.

You'll have to wait and see what you got. I have seen some 240's with the FSB that extends to the muzzle, and some that didnt. If it does extend to the muzzle, you can simply cut the "shroud" portion off and thread the barrel to desired FH. If it doesnt have one, then just simply thread it. But if its a 340, than you'll need to replace the FSB with a standard AKM one, or get an adapter to 14x1 LH and find a FH for that thread pitch. You do have options. Just depends on what you want vs. how much work you want to do.

Got it earlier tonight. 240 series. Appears to have the shrouded FSB; the portion ahead of the FSB is noticeably thicker than the portion of the barrel behind it.
