GreatLakesMolot 2
Hi all, As photography goes, we documented rusting trouble areas for collector and enthusiast value. Firearms have been one of the only investments we have found to truly hold value for more than one reason, which was previously monetary. The pics are from the Vepr12 before the function test shoot. Below are photos of the rust spots on the Vepr12. We fired it later that day and it ran flawlessly (Estate 7-1/2 bird, 3" 00 Buck, and 1 oz. slugs). Now, we must preserve a machine that runs well. Thank you for any tips. Enjoy these machines! I believe CLP and a brass brush is a decent first step. No? Edited November 4, 2012 by GreatLakesMolot
Muffman 54
That's a good first step and should get rid of all that. Doesn't look like rust to me. Looks like dried cosmo or byproduct of finishing process. I'd clean it all down and scrub it with soapy water, then wire brush and clp it.
