Spetnaz Soldier 47
So i polished my bolt and carrier. On the bolt stem is the only place actually polished on the bolt. I used one of those dremel attatchments, its a polishing wheel made of like cotton or something with polishing compound inside the fabric. I wasn't even thinking about it but I hope i didnt mess any thing up by polishing those contact points on the bolt. What do you guys think? ....whoops sorry about the title, got distracted i guess. Bigtwin 219
Based on the pics provided....I see nothing polished! Could be just the pics, but polished parts should shine like chrome! Perhaps it is just the photos.
D.C.MORRISON 494
re-profiled first? polishing not finished . sorry, just my opinion. and you know everyone has one.
rnemhrd 165
Most of the people here would consider a polish removing all the surface imperfections and tooling marks with fine sandpapers, to polishing compounds untill you get to a mirror finish. You did what most guys do. I like that look myself. http://forum.saiga-1...s-off-to-pauly/ this would be a true polish job with reprofiling on a S12 by someone that knows what they are doing. I doe'nt think you removed anything but paint off yours and will have no issues with with your contact points. Edited December 6, 2012 by rnemhrd

Spetnaz Soldier 47
....well actually compared to what Pauly did mine sucks ass. But i was affraid to polish it that much cause every body says polishing can mess up the factory tolerences and mess up accuracy...I really dont understand that logic but it kinda makes sense i guess if u were to polish too much of one area? rnemhrd 165
Depends what you want. Most guys just take off the finish and do what you did. I like the tooling marks, and you can get a good shine and still have a textured surface. you can do the bolt carrier face and charging handle that shows out the ejection port with no ill effects you know. That does'nt touch anything. I did that with mine after a while then cold blued them.
Spetnaz Soldier 47
well i also did the bolt stem....
rnemhrd 165
Still looks like you just took off the paint that would have came off over time.No biggie. I stripped all the paint off mine Scotchbrited it to a satin finish and cold blued it. I doe'nt feel it took any material off that will effect anything.
