49north 7
Anyone know the reason for the velcro? piece on the receiver? Seems a little strange. And, are there threads under what appears to be a muzzle nut? I have been looking at these rifles for years and figure now's the time to get a 223 rifle. It's a 20" model, which I could of got years ago for $220 but I kept on buying regular ak's instead. Also, the bho appears not to work, Has anyone seen this before? I have a few 308 saigas and am familiar with the rifle but could not get this one to functions. Thanks. I am about ready to call the dealer up and have him put it aside for me but the bho issue has me puzzled.
mancat 2,368
None of the .223 barrels are known to be threaded underneath the front sight block. The velcro patch is due to a change of importer before the rifles were sold. The rifles changed hands from one importer to another after the receivers had been marked. Generally most of these were imported by RAAC and then sold to TGI. The BHO does not work automatically on the last round on the S223. I'm not sure if this is what you're referring to. If it doesn't even work manually, then you have a problem. Usually they stop working because the spring slips off of the BHO lever inside the receiver. It's an easy fix. Most people who keep the BHO cut a small keeper notch into the BHO lever where the spring sits, which keeps the spring from slipping off. 49north 7
Thank you for the reply mancat. The bho wasn't working on manual..maybe I can get the price down a bit. The muzzle looks like it has a nut, similar to early threaded mak 90 or nhm models. Will give him a call, thanks.
vulcan16 971
As mancat stated, the spring must have fallen off. You can use a pick to slip it back into place. SGM mags have last round bolt hold open feature. Has the rifle been converted?
49north 7
Thanks. Rifle is stock and I can get it for $400. I have found a few nice rifles the last week and am having a hard time deciding. If I get the saiga it will be a varmit rifle. Besides, I don't have a 223 rifle.
