srrens 1
Hello, I am a new Saiga 7.62 owner (and firearm owner in general!) and I just completed conversion of my Saiga over the weekend. I took it out to the range today and everything seemed to go OK except when my friend didn't 'release' the charging handle and instead slowly guided the bolt back, this resulted in the bolt not closing all the way. Is that normal? Anyway on to my other question. My bullet guide install seemed to me to go well enough, but then after the range today (shot 20 rounds through it) I noticed two things which you should be able to see in the photo: 1. Wear on the top of bullet guide screw - is this normal or something to worry about? 2. Dent on rear edge of bullet guide - this may be from my cable-type lock i have been using, not sure. Are there other possible causes? Any thoughts /advice would be helpful, thanks!
vulcan16 971
Don't ever baby a round into a AK chamber, pull the handle back and let it fly. The wear looks normal.
srrens 1
Thanks for the feedback - I figured that the feeding issue was caused by his delicate handling. Hopefully I will get a safe sometime soon so I don't have to mess with the cable lock.
thebuns1 4,323
If you ride the bolt home with a live round, expect the bolt not to go into battery. Looks like your bullet guide is working. The marks on your screw are from the bolt rotating over top of it as it goes into battery. It shouldnt hurt anything as it will wear itself in and shouldnt cause any issues. The cable lock shouldnt hurt anything.
BigChongus 765
You're fine. Mine did both of those same exact things. Here it is 1,500 rounds later: Edited December 28, 2012 by W8lifter
