SGT.

THAT HOGUE FINGERLESS GRIP IS INTERESTING, HOW DO YOU LIKE IT, COMPARED TO THE FINGER GROOVE TYPE?

WHEN THE NRA SHOW WAS IN HOUSTON, I SHOWED MR. HOGUE HISSELF AN AK GRIP THAT I'D WORKED OVER WITH A DREMEL AND ONE OF THE POLISHING BUFFS.

I'D REDUCED THE GROOVES TO JUST NUBBINS, AND TOOK THE BULGED AREAS ON THE SIDES DOWN QUITE A BIT.

I LET HIM HOLD IT, AND EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT NOT EVERYONE IS A BIG FAN OF FINGERGROOVES.

I ALSO TOLD HIM THAT WITH THE SIDE BULGES REMOVED, THAT YOUR HAND THEN SITS JUST A BIT LOWER ON THE GRIP, THAT YOUR TRIGGER FINGER NOW LAYS STRAIGHT ACROSS THE TRIGGER, INSTEAD OF LAYING ACROSS IT AT AN ANGLE.

HE LOOKED AT ME A BIT SCEPTICALLY, WHILE MANIPULATING THE GRIP I'D MODIFIED, BUT LISTENED POLITELY AND THANKED ME FOR MY SUGGESTION, IF A BIT GRUDGINGLY, AND HANDED IT BACK.

ONE WONDERS IF THIS GROOVELESS IS A RESULT OF THAT CONVERSATION??

Holy shmoke, my friend!

Wonder it you've influenced this design. Check the timeline and drop a note to Hogue Co.

And meeting Mr. Hogue in person? That's great!

I am a big fan of Hogue overmolds, using them from 1911 to AR and AK, but this is my first "groove-less" PG and I like it a  lot.

I think it's a matter of preference, and neither design is "wrong" or "right".

Happy Shooting!
