  1. Can someone please settle this for me, as I'm getting flak on another board. I reload for my Saiga and get the stepped shoulder in the brass after firing. It sizes right out but people are trying to tell me how dangerous it is. I emailed the Izhmash contact but never heard back. Can anyone give me written proof from the factory that this is normal and nothing is wrong with my rifle? Already aware of the "Identifying fired cases" story.
  2. Not sure if this applies to the Saiga, but... My friend has a FAL. We fired a hundred rounds through it in stock form and recoil was fairly brisk to the point that we had to take a shoulder recovery break. A month later he installed a brake and it made a world of difference in recoil. I would certainly want one on my Saiga if firing from the bench.
  3. You know what? I just figured it out. It wasn't the trunnion, it's my gas block. I was shooting my cast lead bullets today and there is some lead buildup in there, preventing the piston from going all the way back in. Thanks for trying though!
  4. You can see the wear spot on the left where it's jamming solid in the sight block. I just don't understand why it happened suddenly today.
  5. I haven't been on the site in three years, mainly because...my Saiga hasn't given me one issue all that time. Today I'm out shooting some of my (fairly mild) reloads and the bolt got jammed hard, enough that I had to bang the handle on the table for it to unlock. Got it home, found out the piston is wedging itself into the rear sight block on the right side. It's always rubbed that part of the piston, but this is new. Now what?
  6. Ok, let me think. The 12's were somewhere north of $600. 308 was almost $800. x39 was $420 as was the 223. Interestingly the 20ga was more than the 12 for some reason. The 410 was around $450 or so. On a side note I've never seen so many 30 carbines in my life. Must've had at least 15-20. Those suckers are LIGHT!
  7. First off I have no affiliation with the store, just went in there today to get a holster. Shooter's Supply in Louisville has quite a few Saiga 12's, a couple 20ga, one 410, three or four x39, one 223 and one 308. Of course I was shocked at the pricing, but there they were in all their glory. They even had a few converted Saigas, but for over a grand. Just some info, thought I'd pass it along. BTW my x39 is still going strong.
  8. Yup, have one on my x39. Definitely get the Warsaw length, the NATO just makes it awkward.
  9. Yeah, just keep the SAW grip. Mine is fantastic and almost looks like it belongs on there.
  10. I keep mine next to the bed every night. The AK has been used for HD sucessfully in the past. Unless she's used to racking the forearm on a shotgun every shot under duress, the only thing she'll probably know to to is pull the trigger, repeatedly.
  11. Plus the kit requires you to rivet it on. Dinzag has a drill/tap kit that just requires...a drill.
  12. My friend has a Mojo on his SKS and I had the Williams on mine. Frankly I wasn't impressed. The 'peep' is so far away you might as well be using a washer glued to the stock notch. A true peep needs to be up close and personal.
  13. Simply amazing you did the conversion on TWO Saigas and have never fired a rifle before.
  14. So far I've just had a couple questions. Usually it's just grouped in with the usual AK stuff and you'll get shown their Yugo or Norinco. But...get the Saiga 12 and things get interesting. Too late, already have. Hey...you could always bump fire it. That gets some grins at my range. Provided you're 'allowed' to do it.
