  1. Thanks, I understand that. Neither the front post or the rear 'v' will move far enough left or right to correct the problem. My front sight is not vertically positioned on the barrell properly. Need to know how to fix that.
  2. A year ago I bought a saiga 762 and can not get it to zero with front sight windage adjustment. It will not move fr enough to the left to bring point of impact to the right. Any one know how to move the entire front sight assembly to the left so the front post will zero in the middle of its adjustment. I thought I saw a do it yourself article long time ago on the forum on how to do that, but cant find it any more. Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS: can i install a pistol hand grip behind the trigger legally? thanks
  3. Try this: UTG 973 3rd generation AK side mount with double rails. Got mine from Gilberts Gun SHop. ITs built like a rock, very good quality.
  4. I bought my saiga 8 months ago. its a kewl little shooter. sure is noisy though, wear ear protecion or ear plugs. I added a nylon sling and a picanny rail and a short tactical 6 X 40 mildot scope. My front sight was installed off vertical and it wont adjust left far enough to center zero the rifle. Buy lots of ammo while you can. You know who will be around collecting the guns and bullets soon.
  5. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Where can I buy a US made piston for my OTC stock Saiga 7.62x39 so that I can use the 20 round US made polymer mag? Thanks saiga1943
  6. Exactly! ATF makes whatever wierd rulings they wish at a given time. Unfortunately all we can do is comply as best we know how, but IMO you always want to err on the side of caution. It's not worth $50, $100, or even $200 to cut a corner when you are dealing w/ these people. They have no sense of humor, almost limitless budget, and if you come to their attention they can grind you into the pavement. Do you really think that the big importers would be paying good money to convert rifles if it was legal w/o doing it? They pay lawyers to find the proper way of doing things. They are not go
  7. Gentlemen, thank you, one and all for your time and information. I have decided to stick with the 10 rd mags [usa made] and just get 3 more of them. This peashooter is going to be used for targets, varmits, and vermin and if necessary home defense. Everyone please send a mail to your representative Vote NO on the gun ban bill. Thanks again Saiga1943
  8. Yup, I can adjust the sights, (ret military) but,,, the sights will not adjust far enough to make the weapon center on target. Rear is not adjustable, front post is against the stop. At 100 yds it shoots about 12" to the left. Thats why i am on these forums. To get educated and learn how to fix these minor irritants. Maybe it is canted. I dont know how to check it , yet, but i will eventually. Thanks for your comments, all are welcome, glad to be here. walt
  9. Only semiautomatic long guns are considered "good" and "evil" by the lawmakers. Lever and pump action owners need not worry about them. You'll need to visit the 922r section to bring your Saiga up to legal standards while using your 20s. Ok thanks. I read the 922 section, but I think I need a lawyer to interpret the info. I kinda infered from some of it that the ProMag mags fixed the problem.
  10. Ok, i'm a newbie. Since buying my stock out of the box saiga 762, I have added the following items. a Tasco red dot sight (china), a UTG 973 side rail (china?) and a US made nylon sling. I would like to get 2 ea ProMag polymer 20 round mags (USA made?). will this make my rifle illegal? Nothing has nor will be modified on the rifle, unless I can find a rear sight that has windage adjustment on it at a later time. Bear with me , I'm slowly learning. I read the 922r section, took me 3 hours, its still confusing, lots of opinions and debate. All I need to know is can I use the ProMa
  11. Yup, you'll wanna adjust everything to be dead on with where the laser bores-sighter hits. That will get you on paper, and then you can fine tune with a couple shots after that. Thank you, just wanted to get a check with someone who used this type stuff. I'm a newbie to the Saiga. Hauled a old M-16 around for 24 years in the AF, had a SKS and domestic hunting rifles. Gotta get educated on this new tech stuff. I fired a few rounds thru it last week, its a sweet shooter.
  12. My new Saiga shoots low and to the left. Iron sights will cure the elevation but not windage, wont move far enough to the left to shift impact point to the right center. I bought a red/green dot sight and a pitcanny mount which seems to work correctly. Am now looking at a laser bore sighter (in chamber type-looks like a brass) from centerfire. com. Anyone care to share imformation on aligning everything with the laser. Do i just move iron sight to center on the laser and turn adjustments on the red dot to overlay the laser spot? I hope its that simple.
