  1. Posted this over on the 5.45 thread, but I figured I'd post it here too in case it doesn't get seen... Searched to see if I could find this info, but nobody has done any write ups or reviews of this, so I'll ask... Thinking of putting a KOP on my go-to 5.45. I currently have a TWS dogleg on there, but have never been 100% happy with it. Seems too flimsy, and after seeing what the guys at AK Operators Union did to one with their normal durability test, I'm even less inclined to keep it on there. KOP seems like a solid (pun intended) choice for mounting an RDS, and with the differ

KOP seems like a solid (pun intended) choice for mounting an RDS, and with the different length rails that they offer, giving me a longer sight picture than the standard sight set up with the BUI
  3. I use the peep sight that TWS sells to go with the dogleg rail, but I think any peep sight that would attach to a picatinny rail would work just fine. The TWS peep is low enough that I can cowitness with the Bushnell red dot I have mounted on the rail. The only downside (and it's not really a big one) is that you can't adjust the TWS peep for windage or elevation. You have to do all that at the front sight, which basically means zero it for a 300 yd. battle zero and leave it at that. With the ability to mount optics, the irons are just there for back up anyway
  4. Thanks! I keep seeing other AK's with all kinds of other things on them and I have to physically restrain myself from reaching for the credit card. I keep repeating "It works as it is" over and over to myself. Both those are at 50 yds, btw
  5. Made some upgrades recently, and I think I'm pretty much done...at least until something else cool comes along TWS dogleg rail Bushnell red dot MI flash hider OST folder mechanism MOE stock US Palm pistol grip Krebs safety
  6. Anybody know what size the two Allen screws are that you use to adjust the fit on the tws dogleg? Mine backed out and have been lost to all humankind while I was doing a local 3 gun course. Guess I should've used loctite
  7. Well, I'll be damned. That worked. I guess mine accidentally had the lettering etched on the wrong side.
  8. So, I should try using it with the lettering facing away from the work? I just want to make sure that's what you're suggesting, because everybody else says to have the lettering facing the way you cut
  9. Here's some pics if that helps All the farther it will go...it's no longer taking any metal off now Inside the die...not sure if this could be damaged or what
  10. The standard 14lh. And yes, I'm turning it counterclockwise. Although that would be the kind of mistake I would make
  11. Barrel o.d. Is .565. I think that's the right diameter for the die
  12. Sorry, it's 762x39. I haven't measured, I'll try that next
  13. I'm attempting to thread the barrel on my 762 saiga. I've looked at a couple of how to videos and everything but none of them talk about this. I can only get the threading die to remove aout 1/8 inch of material from the barrel. I can't get it to start cutting threads no matter how much pressure I put on the handles as I turn. I've checked all the likely culprits...lettering on the die is facing the work, the tat is not in contact with the barrel at all, in fact I've probably got a 1/4 inch of clearance there. I'm using a light machine oil as cutting fluid, so maybe that's too thick or so
  14. Looking to buy/rent a m14x1 LH die, tat for 7.62x39 and handle so I can thread my barrel. PM or email me at adamjsmith80 at gmail dot com if you have one you're not using
