  1. pi R squared multiplied by the height is the volume of a cyclinder, then divide that by 61 to get liters (from CI)
  2. When you figure on the projectile moving, you create the variables of the pressure increasing as well as the volume increasing, combine that with the speed of the projectile, the equation is so complicated, you might as well factor in coeffecient of drag, gravity and friction to surface area. Not implicating I have the answers, but maybe another way to look at this is to solve for what pressure is needed to propel the projectile at your desired speed. Then after you have that, assume the projectile is fixed at the end of the barrel, now your volume is fixed. Plug in that pressure into
  3. http://admin.pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/ie50257a006 That article was written in 1931 and toward the bottom it has a table that states smokeless powder burns from 2900*C-3500*C (dependant on chemical makeup). I would use 3000*C or 3273 K. Don't forget to do the enthalpy change of the air surrounding the reaction (I think it would be miniscule however). Now that I think of it, what would be the specific heat of air....0 probably, so nevermind.
  4. chalk me up as a "valley biotch"...this is exactly what I have been looking for..... As soon as I find out where Surly got this sweater, then I can go to the range in style...
  5. In other words, DONT BE STUPID! Leave the evil stuff at home. So I'm safe if I just have a fixed stock with a pistol grip on my mag locked S12. Leave the muzzle brake and all the tac stuff at home. Yes? Yes, the things that catch the eye of an untrained (read liberal) person are the muzzle breaks, forward grips and lights. Just keep it sane and avoid showing it off to everyone (I know thats hard to do) and you should be okay.
  6. I had a break for a minute. The numbers look good. When I get a chance, I will look around for some pressure/temp gradients for burnt/burning powder.
  7. PV=nRT P=pressure in atmospheres (1 atm =760mm/hg) V=volume in liters n=is the moles of your gas (molecules per gram) R=is the gas constant which is .821 T=is the temp your gas is in kelvin's Substitute your knowns and use algebra to figure our you unknown. If you have three before and after knowns and need to know what effect a change will have, then use the formula P1(V1)/n1(T1)=P2(V2)/n2(T2) I would do it for you, but I am heading into a meeting right now. If what I wrote appears to be written in Chinese, sorry, I'll try to help you out when I get back. Otherwise I hope
  8. Am I too much of a gear head, or did anyone else notice the valve cover from a SBC poking out through the side cowl? Sad, but that was the first thing I noticed....then the gun porn of course...
  9. A gun is a gun is a gun, whether it is loaded, unloaded or unknown, it should be treated as loaded, correct? Then why not just have it loaded all the time you are in control of it. Bounce-when it comes to traffic, NEVER BE IN THE MIDDLE LANE!!!! Also, stop far enough back that you can crank the wheel one way or the other and be abel to pull onto the median or the shoulder and GTFO!
  10. Of course there is my alternative...... At the beginning of every year, the department of fish and game releases the names of all Parolee's (3056ers) who are wanted for violations, anyone who has a violent warrant, any escapee or anyone else wanted for various violent reasons and distribute them to the 'hunters.' The hunters then look over the list and purchase their "tags." After the tags are sold, then the season opens up for 30 days. Any tags not filled will be given to the hunter who fills the most tags and the season is extended. This helps with the whole bringing criminals to
  11. I think AZ (and any other state like them) have it spot on. Everyone carries a gun....... My biggest statement to anyone who carries a CCW, practice with the damn thing!!!!! And I don't mean go to the range and punch four hundred holes in a target. Put the gun in the holster (unloaded), put your jacket/shirt/whatever else you wear on, and practice drawing it and practice drawing it and practice drawing it and practice drawing it and practice drawing it and practice drawing it and practice drawing it and practice drawing it. Doesn't matter if you can punch a dime at 25 yards, if y
  12. Yeah that is what I was trying to figure out, so I could argue there is no way to travel into another state, buy a gun and walk out the door if you are not a resident of that state. Thanks
  13. I cannot accurately put into words or even comprehind the stupidity and the lack of reasonablity of these liberal idiots. I cannot believe there are people who think that you can talk to these cranked out criminals. If criminals had the ability to form even the slightest sign of synaptic process, there would not be REPEAT offenders as in the case of this shooting. This reminds me of the Rosey O'donnel incident, where she wanted everyones guns to be taken away.....except for her paid security staff. Libs' have no loyality to any cause. They simply float from protest to protest, cause to
  14. Iraq, Kuwait, Afganistan......the great thing about those places is they supply targets. If you give me a minute I'm sure I can think of a couple of other places........ seriously, Google is your friend http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=g...mp;aq=f&oq=

    New barrel

It's interesting you should mention that. I've had an idea for awhile now to put a rifled barrel in an S12, just haven't had the time to pursue it. Mmmmmm...Exxxxxcellent.......
  16. SSSSHHHHHHHH......thats what I use against the black helicopters.........
  17. I am speaking from a slightly educated standpoint, most of which I got here. There are basically two types of slugs, Sabot (sab O) and Brenneke. Brenneke slugs have rifling cast into the slug itself and as it travels down the barrel the rifling spins the slug. I've heard their loose tolerances between the barrel and the slug does not allow for the most precise spin. It does increase accuracy, but not that much. With these rounds and a smooth barrel, I get some pretty big groups at about 75 yards (<5"). Sabot slugs are more of a true rifle bullet with a plastic type capsule sur
  18. See now you know why I won't even buy birdshot for my S12 anymore. That is why I want a rifled barrel for sabot slugs
  19. Thanks for the info Rocinante, basically before this turned into a free for all I was asking if there was a state in the nation where you could walk in a buy a gun without any paperwork. This all stemmed from a friend of my brother in laws' when he stated that you could cross the border and buy anything you want without anyone knowing about it. I argued that wasn't true with all legal (federal and state laws) reasons aside, if....lets say someone from CA went to AZ and attempted to buy any type of gun, as soon as they asked for your ID and saw you were from CA, they would send you packing.

    New barrel

yeah but slug guns are fun, plus its cheaper than 00 buck in some cases. I really want my S12 to have a rifled barrel.
  21. If you ever find yourself in Central CA near Fresno before your get you gun, look me up. I have an XD40 service and compact and a G22, I would be happy to let you shoot all three.

    New barrel

    cough, cough...**rifling**.....cough, cough.....<<1 in 24>>....cough, cough....#$$18"#$%#........
  23. dude, you are the gremlin of firearms....if everyone around you has these problems, stay the hell away from me
  24. Oh are you just a little pissed because I called your pussy out when you slammed KA. Well there is a difference when it comes to CA penal code and federal gun transfers you f-in pussy. At least Nalioth fought like a man and didn't jump in on someone else's fight.
  25. Great piece Jeaux and happy b-day Tromix. Can't wait to see what you do for the 20th!
