  1. What'a up guys. I have been contemplating doing this to my s12 for while now. I am wanting to use it for home protection so I want to make sure its up to code. Someone told me that its not the always the barrel length to watch out for but the length of the entire rifle. Either way, I want to cut my 24 in barrel down to 18". I have a brake on it now that is 3" long. Can I cut it down to 16" and tack or weld the brake on to have a 18-19" bbl? Also, does having a shorter bbl affect reliability ie ftf or fte issues? Thanks in advance for the any advice. Regards
  2. Here is my Saiga 308. Basic, but still looks cool IMO. Shoots exceptionally well...if I do my part and keep the barrel from getting too hot, it can keep shots inside an inch all day long at 50 yds. In the next coming weeks, I will be testing some hand loads out to 100 on up to 800yrds.
  3. cheap rings and the fact that I did not tightem them up correctly...not to mention I had this scope/ring combo mounted on 10/22T rifle before and the recoil is much sharper now.
  4. How the hell are you doing within an inch at 50 yards? Is it bolted into a rest? What's the ammo your using (brand, grain, everything)? What mods did you add to it? What scope are you using and what mount is it sitting on? I'm using a catseye 4x12x50 sitting on the siderail mount....no mods whatsoever. I rested the front of the rifle on the front of a rest and I held the butt. I was using Remington .308 150gr. It may not have been an inch maybe more like 1.5". Once it was sighted in, it shot terrific. I was very surprised myself. The right lower bullseye "x" which was about 1/2" w
  5. The two ranges I go to the most have the "no enter zone". I guess I will have to go to the one in Blanco that allows us to walk out during cease fires. I wish I had about 100 acres somewhere. Thanks
  6. Put 40 rounds through my saiga .308 hunter this morning. I was very impressed (and surprised) at the accuracy of this rifle. At 50 yds it was putting 10 shots inside an inch easily. The only problem I had was that it would eject cases sharply at 2 o'clock out to about 5-8ft in front of me. This is bad if you are at a closed range and are planning on reloading. Is there anything that can be done to get it to eject cases at 3-5 o'clock? Either way I am very happy with results thus far. It is competing with my AR's in terms of accuracy. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  7. Thanks a lot guys. Yeah, I did that but did not pay too much attention to how the parts were reacting when cycling the bolt manually. I was mostly listening for the click. I need to get some pics up. There are some parts in there that seem very loose and somewhat out of place. Thanks again. I will look closely at that actuator.
  8. That sounds like a clogged up gas piston. Did you clean that out & try it again? All I did was take evrything apart to see what the issue was. I put it back together without cleaning and it was fine after that. The only thing I noticed when it was dissassembled is that the trigger group and surrounding area was pretty dirty. It almost looked like there were tiny pieces of metal in there. Thanks
  9. Was out at my brothers place yesterday having good time with the saiga 12. We were using federal 7-1/2 and all was fine for the first 50 or so rounds. I was using the surefire 12/13 rd mag with out a problem. I bump fired it using the factory 5 rd mag a few times as well. Anyhow, shortly after it would only fire one round at a time. The trigger would not reset. I would have to manually pull the charging handle back, eject a good round, and chamber the following round. It did this 4 or 5 times in a row. I took it apart but did not visually see anything that was out of whack. I did a qu
  10. I shot my saiga 12 for the first time today. Unfortunately I was using the cheap Winchester universal shells which cause jams or fte 99% of the time. It did cycle my brothers federal ammo perfectly. It was a blast to shoot and easily one of the funnest rifles in my collection. I am wondering if anything needs to be modified in order to run high cap mags. Also, where do most of you guys order your parts from? Thanks in advance...by the way this is my first saiga shotgun.
