  1. Speaking of gunsmiths that can cut a barrel. Does anyone have any experience with turning an S-12 into a SBS? I am interested in cutting down my S-12 to about 2 inches infront of the hand guard and intalling a comp/tactical impact device. I know that this will then have to be a registered firearm, just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with this. I am a little concerned that the gas system will have a fit if I take that much barrel off. Last thing, I am in AZ, so any smiths that are close by would be the best for me. Thanks for the help.
  2. Welcome from Arizona. I have a good friend in Moscow, just arrived about 2-3 weeks ago. Is studying at the university. He might enjoy your festival. What contact information do you have? Chris
  3. What does the bolt catch sold on the saiga-12 homepage do? It is ok if the bolt does not stay back after the last round, but will this particular device hold the bolt open if I manualy engage it? That is to say pull the bolt back and lift up on the latch? If so, is installation on a 12C model the same as on the 12 model? Chris
  4. Does anyone know if it is possible to install a bolt hold open device on a 12C model? Just bought one and I would like to have the bolt held open after the last round is fired. Thanks, Chris
  5. What is the barrel lenght? Chokes? Adjustable sights? Chris, Shadowman762@yahoo.com
  6. I live in Arizona, and I am looking to purchase an S-12/S-12c. I am interested in getting into USPSA competition in the Tactical class. This class has a few restrictions on shotguns, the most constraining is that the shotgun must be factory configuration. In addition the barrel length must be no more than 22 inches, and I can start a stage with no more than nine rounds in the gun. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase a Saiga 12 with the pistol grip, adjustable sights, and a 24 inch barrel? ( I plan to cut the barrel and thread it for Briley invector+ chokes) Please keep in mind that the gun
  7. Looks great! I am looking into getting an S-12 after the ban is lifted. Would it be better to wait and see if the S-12 with the pistol grip and the folding stiock will be available from the factory, or to just order one and have the conversion done? BTW where would I look to find someone to do the conversion for me? I am not an experienced hand when it come to gunsmithing. Thanks for the help, Chris
  8. Please forgive my lack of knowledge on this particular subject, but I have some questions reguarding the AWB and importation laws. Would it be possible to order a 12 with all the "goodies" on it (folding stock, pistol grip etc...) after the AWB sunsets? Will the new SWAT model be available for civilian purchase or is it still to be LEO. If the answers to any of these questions is yes who can I talk to about making a purchase? Thanks for the help, Chris
  9. Thanks I will keep those tips in mind. BTW to the Saigas come with an instruction sheet? English would be prefered but I can muddle my way through Russian. Thanks again Chris
  10. I have heard that you need to be an LEO to get the 8rd mags. True or false? In addition, someone told me that attaching an 8rd mag to a Saiga 12 would violate the law. I have not read anything like this, but I could be missing it some where. Can someone please shed some light on this problem? Thanks, Chris
  11. Thanks for all the info guys, you all have been a big help. I will be purchasing one of these shotguns very soon. Any tips you might have on maintenace or do's and don't would be welcomed. Chris
  12. Unless I am reading the laws wrong I can not see anything that says you can not attach an eight round magazine to this particular shotgun. Although I do not have the exact letter of the law infront of me. I am using one of Alan Corwin's books about the gun laws of Arizona. In this particular book the Saiga 12 in it's "stock" configuration would not violate the 2 "evil feature" rule because it can not accept a magazine that holds more then 10 rounds. If you have any additional information on this I would really appreciate it. By the way what is needed for an LEO to get a modified Saiga such as
  13. Thanks for the information, I went to the AK103 site but was not able to see where they had the Saiga 8rd mags. Could you please direct me to them? Thanks Chris
  14. These are some great looking shotguns. I have been shooting in competition for several years, and I think that this kind of shotgun will give the user a great advantage over the more traditional shotguns. I have a few questions that you people might be able to help me with. 1. Is it possible to get 8rd mags for the Saiga 12 (I have FFL), and where do I get them? 2. Is it true that the Saiga has all the reliability of the AK-47? 3. Do the new Saiga 12s come with the bolt hold open device installed? 4. What sort of rail does it have on the top? 5. If I buy a Saiga can I
