  1. Thank you Let's try it
  2. What is the wood on yours? How did you finish it? And....how did you get your pic to show in the post?
  3. Enjoyed your video. I saw it the other night as I was researching. Thanks to all who have added answers. This is my second Saiga. I converted an x39 over the holidays and enjoyed the process and the results. . I am going to put wood furniture on the 12 but with my short arms the butt stock will be short. I wonder how it will like with a 9 inch stock. I may take the colapsing stock off the x39 and see how it feels. The original 12 set up feels great. So moving the trigger will make the reach uncomfortable. So... having fun inside for a few months. Heres a pic of my x39 My
  4. ProMags followers have been well known to rase up too high. Actually, if a ProMag mag isn't collapsed to the point that it wont feed shells, the follower will rise up too high. Some people think this is neat. At the end of a video I made proving a ProMag could be made to cycle 10 rounds of 3" .00 magnum, I sarcastically said "And it has a last round bolt-hold-open" The mike on the camera didn't pick my voice up very well as I said "because the follower came up too high". I keep getting YouTube PMs asking how it works. I guess I should add an annotation at the end or something. I did ev
  5. Hey folks, Just shot my new 12 today and am looking for some mags with the feature of holding open the bolt with the last shot. I have surefire and saiga mags and I can't see how I can modify them to do it, so I came here to the folks with the experience Thanks Thom
  6. Hey folks Shot my new 12 today and was wondering if anyone makes a mag that holds the bolt open when empty. I shoot some tatcical matches and that would save a second or two. Thanks
  7. I took my converted x39 to the range today and had a problem with the BHO. I had forgotten to put the spring back in it, so it held the bolt open. So now I need a trick on getting the spring back on. It seems I need 4 hands to get everything aligned and springy. Oh, the rifle shot great one round at a time. Thanks for everyone's help.
  8. I have the same UTG978 mount for my Aimpoint M4 when it's used on my SGL-20. Have you shot your new rifle? http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u199/photobug4741/SGL-20WithRussianNavySlingfromSovie.jpg Haven't shot it yet. Hopefully next non-rainy weekend in AL. Our club has a tactical match the last week in January. Save some money and give it a 'shot'! Your rifle looks sharp. How did you mount the cleaning rod? I want to add that feature.

  10. I have pics but as of yet I haven't figured out how to post them. Back in a few when I figure it out.

  12. Was at my hardware store this evening and saw some 'hammered black' paint in spray can. I may have to try it for a repaint. The only concern I have is the gloss finish. I like the powdercoat flat look. Fun inside projects this week being it's quite chilly in B'ham. Maybe go to the range on Sunday. Gonna be 34.
  13. The pilot hole I managed to get through was 1/16" titanium bit. That was the hole by the mag catch. What kind of steel is the trigger guard made of. Thanks for the tip on the bits. Was thinking about heading there tomorrow to get 'better' bits. Yes you do have to do some intense pushing to get the back hole to line up. But it will fit nice! trust me. paint her up and finish it off. I would suggest letting the first coat dry and put on at least 1-2 more coats. I did anyway just for extra cover.
  14. I could do that. And thought about doing that. It would be a hell of a tight fit because you have to bend the guard to make it reach the rear hole. Thanks Just need to paint it and put it back together then.
  15. I have been lurking and learning for several months and took the plunge with converting my x39, BUT I have run into a minor snag. I am drilling holes for my trigger guard and will need to get better bits because my brand new bits ain't working. I have the pilot hole drilled for the front hole, but ...that's it. The next size 1/8" won't do it. I can't even begin to make a hole in the rear end of the trigger guard. What do you recommend? Thanks
