  1. YEah, I knew there were non-CIRCLE-10s, but since it said ARSENAL, I figured they were circ10s. Unfortunately, the pic is distorted.
  2. It doesn't say circle-10...just bulgy polymer. Here's a pic: "These Bulgarian-made AK-47 magazines from Arsenal, Inc. follow the original Bulgarian military pattern, featuring a "waffle" textured, polymer magazine body for increased rigidity, longevity, and the utmost in reliable function. Compatible with most AK-47/AKM-pattern rifles in 7.62x39mm."
  3. The sickness has begun (I've never bought two of the same gun before). I got it on Gunbroker for $439 shipped (after watching MANY Arsenal SGL20s go for $650). Link--> http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=159940128 There's no barrel shroud (though the seller doesn't seem to think one was removed, it had to have been), so threading will hopefully be easy. I'm just gonna get an ergo pistol gril, a bullet guide and an FSC47. I'm putting an eotech XPS on an ultimak on this one, and putting the TA33 acog on a k-var side mount (assuming I ever find one for sale) on the oth
  4. I've seen some Saigas--maybe Arsenal conversions only--called "Legion" (as in SGL20 Legion)...what does that term denote? Thanks. BONUS QUESTION: Have 7.62x39 Saigas always shipped with optic side mounts on them? I saw one without a side mount, but didn't know if the converter had removed it OR if it came from Saiga that way.
  5. Could we get HP or is it only for FMJ? If there's anyone who wants to split an order ($95+shipping each), I'll ship their half to them OR they can ship my half to me. I can't afford 1K, but 500rds would be great.
  6. I'm looking for a converted Saiga in 7.62x39. Pistol grip, threaded barrel, arsenal furniture and internal side-folder preferred. No canted sights (like the one I bought from a dealer here!). $500-$650 depending on materials.
  7. I was wondering if anyone knew IF/when K-var would get more converted Saiga Arsenal 7.62x39 rifles in? They seem to have been out-of-stock for awhile now, and I read on their forum that they weren't getting any more (at least, no more of the SL20) in -- see: http://www.migeta.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6386 Any ideas?
  8. While I've used ACOGs (TA01NSN, TA33), Aimpoints (CompM2 and Micro), and an Eotechs 552 (a long, long time ago), I'm going to be mounting an optic on an ultimak (further forward in a scout-scope type location) and I've narrowed my preferences down to--> 1. an Eotech XPS -- because I like the clear glass (no tint) and, in theory, the reticle...though I do worry it'll look blurry and I won't get used to it (I do have a minor astigmatism, and wear glasses), and 2. a Trijicon RX34 -- 4.5MOA -- because I like the size of the glass, I love the fact that it needs no batteries (tridium+fibe
  9. JIM "Are you able to co-witness the Tech Sights with the micro dot on the Ultimak?" -- Not with this gen2 Primary Arms (the gen1s projector was on the side). I also hear the Bushnell TRS25 has a side projector that allows for co-witness (and that the tube is a bit bigger than the T1 or Primary Arms clone). RHODES "Why invest in the TS then put a scope on it?" -- First, it wouldn't surprise me if I ended up just sticking with the irons--I love the TS sights...and out to 150 yards I'm great with them; however, I think a 1.5x, 2x or 3x ACOG might be just the thing for the AK to help wi
  10. Evidently the MTK-83 and some UTGs will make it over the Tech-sights. ANY IDEA what the LOWEST way to mount an ACOG is? I was going to use the LARUE Quick-Detach, but that sits kinda high. I'll probably just go with the new Trijicon RX34 with a quick-detach when it comes out and keep the TA33 acog on the AR....I just thought 3X would be good for the AK (not too much mag, but helps with precision).
  11. i already have the ultimak and a micro dot....i just wanted some magnification for the 200-400yard type stuff. i guess i'll have to wait for a scope mount where the height can be adjusted (and lower it after installing) OR where the top piece (rail) can be taken off (to mount) then put on after it's on the gun. EDITED TO ADD--> MIGHT THERE BE A WAY i could install a low mount without the dust cover on, THEN install the tech-sights and dust cover? I think those hight mounts are tooo high, but i may get one to try out--what's a good, centered high mount? the bp-01? or one by dph
  12. Whast Oiptic were you wanting to use? A TA33 acog
  13. i didn't realize these side mounts all slid on from the rear...i assumed they just clamped directly on. so...ALL of them slide on from the rear? if so, i'm at a loss as to how to mount a scope with the tech-sights, BUT i like these irons too much to take them off. ugh. the super-high mounts just seem like it'd be hard to get a solid view/cheekweld (PLUS you have to stick your head up so high from cover).
  14. Is the UTG quick-release and fairly-low (where I could maybe see my irons over it)? Have you heard anything about the DPH low-mount? I can't believe the KV-04S wasn't centered...I had read it was.
  15. While I can't seem to find the KVAR KV-04S anywhere, I see some mounts on OneSourceTactical that look similar--one called "Kalashnikov Optimized Scope Mount" and one by DPH (the DPH says low-profile and costs a lot less). Does anyone know if the DPH is sturdy/low/centered? What other mounts should I look at? I'm putting a TA33R8 from my AR on it just to see how I like it--the ACOG has a quick release so--technically--if I can see OVER the mount, I wouldn't need the mount to be quick-release (though it might be preferable). Suggestions?
  16. This is a timely post for me. While I do use and love my Tech-sights (since, for me, the increased sight-radius AND/OR familiarity, increased accuracy and speed), I have also recently installed the Ultimak rail and plan on trying out the Primary Arms micro-dot...if it speeds things up or works well with both eyes open, I may end up switching it out for a high-priced Aimpoint micro. Note: I love the TA-33 acogs, but until it can be mounted with the Tech-sights, I can't get it--though I'm always on the lookout for a side-mount that won't interfere with the TS. Since it's only 3X, it rea
  17. While I think the Saigas are great guns--and seem (to me!) as good or better than any AKs I've ever inspected, I do think the fact that other AKs have cheap, compatible parts readily available has a lot of merit. When I first bought my Saiga, I wrongly believed that it was basically being un-converted back to its original AK self; only after spending some time here did I discover I had bought a proprietary AK-style gun that uses many of its own (read: not AK) parts--e.g., bolt, firing pin, etc.--all, for some reason, unavailable to the consumer who might like to have back-up parts on hand.
  18. Odd. I just went to the site and still only see 3 photographs--none of them are that pic. Anyway, I wanted to see it on a gun to see how LOW the mount goes--wondering about co-witness possibilities (not that I'll be getting it anytime soon seeing as how I just dremmeled away the parts of the Tri-Rail to mount my Ultimak). The ultimak is more solid and allows me to use my Tech-sights whereas this would probably just add more stuff to obstruct my view (as if the rear sight mount isn't bad enough).
  19. Ugh. Please delete. Sorry, I didn't explain it well. Let me try again. I removed my Surefire Tri-Rail handguard...one flat-head screw...then slid it out the front (over the two prongs that guide it in). I then installed the ultimak, BUT when I went to put my handguard BACK on the gun, the flat-head screw DOES screw into the handguard HOWEVER the hole in the gun / metal (lower receiver) is too big for the screw, so I figure there MUST have been a bolt or retaining plate or something that the screw screwed into to hold the handguard tightly in place. Does that help? The sc
  20. i like the original ergo, but the storage compartment cap is crap...opens up during fire...gonna take mine off.
  21. New Surefire-Top-Rail (goes with the tri-rail). I discovered it "new for 2010" moments after dremmeling my tri-rail to fit the ultimak (though I do love the ultimak so far). LINK: https://www.sportsmentacticalsupply.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=41-2110 (note: it's also on SGM Tactical's "Surefire" website under new products)
  22. OMG. CAN MODS PLEASE DELETE THIS THREAD!? (Lest it serve to haunt me whenever I try to give advice on modding one's gun.) FINAL EDIT and explanation. I, um, thought that the tab went outside the metal (a friend told me "underneath" and I misread him)...it goes inside. I. am. an. idiot. (in my defense, I have 4 month old twin daughters and haven't been getting much sleep.) I figured it out now and all is, well, a bit less un-right with the world. ---- EDIT TO ADD: IS THERE A BOLT inside the receiver for the forend/forearm/handguard screw to thread into? The screw I put in t
  23. I have the Primary Arms micro-clone, but I discovered this same thing about 20 minutes ago mounting it on my ultimak!! UGH!!! I can barely see the red-dot, but you're right about not seeing much more. I figure: a) I'll be looking over the sights 90% of the time, I'll probably get a quick release mount for it anyway, so that I can just flick it off if I ever want to (I never liked the 1/3 co-witness much, and think I'd like the 1/2 even less). I'm keeping my tech-sights just because I like them so much more than ANY shorter sight-radius sights...probably just an old AR habit but I l
  24. Since the topic has been tangentially broached, I was wondering whether the .308 had parts in common with the 7.62x39? I'll probably buy another 7.62x39 and leave it unconverted as a parts gun, BUT it'd be great if I could get a .308 instead--giving me a long range gun until I needed to get parts from it. ALSO, I had no idea the 5.45 was such a mean round...I always thought of it as similar but perhaps a bit inferior to the 5.56.
  25. Thanks sailor--I got it for $13 + $7 shipping. It'll do until I can afford something better. I'm not into the chest harnesses just because I'd feel odd wearing it anywhere but at a shooting class or at war. That said, I think that OSOE bag can be worn as a bandoleer/satchel as well....so that's the one I'm thinking of getting (or the EAGLE AK47 chest rig, which I think can hold up to 6 AK mags).
