I know this is an old thread but I thought it might be worth mentioning here. I might sell this Saiga soon. So if anyone might be interested send me a PM or something. I can't sell it tomorrow, there's still a few things that need to be done to the rifle, and due to my living conditions I don't have access to it. I'm just kinda probing the market to see if any one is interested. It's a great rifle, but since I built my AR I never shoot my Saiga anymore. So I'm looking into getting something else, not another AR though.

From a quick search, that seems to be average. Stag is great for the money. I had one (sold it to fund another project, now regretting selling it) and it performed great. Just to be clear, it does come with a BCG and charging handle, correct? At that price, it should. Mine did, and so do all the one I just found while looking up the price. I didn't get a good look at the whole kit but it seemed like good quality. Hopefully I can find something at the show tomorrow.

So I just went by my local gun shop today, they had a few assembled upper halfs. They had a Stag Arms A2, chrome lined barrel, a 1:9 twist, flat top, flip up rear sight. It was priced at $529. Decent price?

Yeah I'll be down there either Saturday or Sunday I'm not sure. Thanks again everyone for the help.

Del-ton? I haven't checked them out yet. Sounds like we're in the same boat. I really just want to get a RRA can call it day, but I heard their quality can be kind of "meh". I like carbine length but I always thought a midlength had more options, am I wrong?

So I'm getting a AR15 lower soon and instead of getting a nice set of wood furniture (and the hardware to attach it) for my Saiga I plan to get a complete upper assembly. But I'm a little overwhelmed with what to get. I want to do this on somewhat of a budget. It's not that I want something dirt cheap, but on the other hand I can't go out and get a LaRue upper either. I'm looking at the 16in, mid length barrel. Any suggestions?

So I'm assuming the AKM set has a cleaning rod hole while the Saiga set doesn't have one? I think I am going to go ahead and order the AKM set.

This. Seriously, all the guns I have are ones from my family, they are great guns and each of them have their own characteristics but I've never owned a brand new rifle until my Saiga. I'm so glad I got my little Russian gun, in 7.62 mind you. I can bum ammo off my SKS friend if I can't find any cheap, and, as stated before it's a kit you can use out of the box. I shot my Saiga for a while before I started converting it, part of it was saving up for the parts but a lot of it had to do with my just having fun with my Saiga and not really needing to convert it.

Cool. Sounds awesome. Keep me updated. I might just have to break down and call Matt.

Alright. Thanks man. I was looking at the Saiga hand guard and the only difference I could see was that it didn't have a hole for a cleaning rod. That isn't a huge deal for me but unless there's another difference I don't see why I shouldn't go with a AKM set. But correct me if I'm wrong. I really have no clue here.

Hey guys! It's been a while since I've posted. All is well with my Saiga, I'm planning on finishing the conversion over the holidays with wood furniture and refinishing the receiver. I plan on getting a set from Matt at Ironwood Designs. I know he's swamped with work so I thought I might be better to ask you guys. I think the #2R SET is the one I need, after I get the AK gas-tube and hand guard retainer. First, is that the right set for my converted Saiga? Second, are there any upgrades I should consider? Finally any recommendations on wood type? Thanks

I'd like mine to be at least silver to mimic the AK. Let me know how the silver paint enamel works. I don't think I have the patientce to sand the whole thing and polish it. Here's how the enamel came out on a couple I did the other day. I like it myself. I also heard back from dinzag about some of his he did like this, and they are still looking good after much use. I put a 30 rd mag though my 5.45 yesterday and there's no noticeable wear on the visible part of the bolt carrier as seen here... More pictures are posted here >> http://forum.saiga-1...=0entry427172

I might not be able to go, as it turns out. My SKS buddy bailed but a non-shooter wants to go with me and I don't think he's too keen on waking up at 7AM or earlier on a Sunday. Plus I wouldn't be able to bring my little Saiga with me, damn KSU Housing.
