  1. I was using a large paper clip at first but the diameter of it was too thick to feel the ports. Did the Vodka specials only have 2 ports?
  2. I've poured thru the threads to see if there was a picture showing where to find the gas ports. I remove the plug and all I can see is one large hole to the top of the barrel. I can't see any smaller holes but I took a dental pick and ran it inside the large hole and the pick located two smaller holes. Does the large hole count for 1 so then I have 3 ports?
  3. No I did not because I thought first that I was to stay on setting #1 for the break-in and I stopped after 140 rounds mainly because I thought it was a done deal! I also thought why go to setting #2 and incur more recoil. What am I missing here? Did I mess up by using Federal bulk during the first break-in? I wish there was a sticky, or maybe I missed it, that would layout a recommended shot shell by weight and how many , etc. to help us newbie's. Does changing out the trigger guard and FCG void the warranty? What is the warranty? I can't find anythin in my papers.
  4. I didn't think to measure while at the range but I would estimte the two hottest high brass loads went 9 - 12 feet at about 3:00. The military 00 buck going the farthest.
  5. Because everything fired, ejected on setting #1. Here is the link to my range report post: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=44584
  6. I should have made my post clearer. I didn't want to make the conversion Before breaking her in just in case I had a Vodka special and would have to send it in for warranty work. The break-in is complete BUT I might be getting too much gas, it ate all 4 different loads on setting #1, so I'm going to get the Gunfixr puck - given my range report I'm assuming it makes sense to proceed with the conversion parts since it won't be going in for warranty work...right?
  7. I didn't want to add the Tromix TIY trigger & FCG parts + pistol grip until I range tested the S12 in case I had a Vodka special. She functioned fine BUT appears to be getting a bit too much gas - I'm ordering the Gunfixr plug. Give the above it is okay to proceed with the above conversion parts?
  8. Brand new out of the box...no conversion. I'm going to get the gunfixr plug.
  9. Thanks for the suggestion - I was wondering if there might be something else to consider of if I just got a very good build. My shoulder isn't that sore so I don't think we could notice it if their is a gas issue. Hopefully some of the guys that gave me ammo suggestions will chime in. I was so happy that I did not have a "Vodka Special"! I purposely used the ammo and in the order listed because I thought that was the recommended break-in. Of course the Federal was supposed to have problems at the beginning of the break-in.

  11. First I want to thank everyone that guided me in which rounds ( oz / drams ) to use for the S12 break-in. I used the factory 5 round mag and another 5 rounder that is marked "www.keepshooting.com" interchangably. Three of these after market mags came with my S12. I did not have any slugs but here is what I shot, amount and in order. I started on setting #1 and never had to change it: 25 Winchester Super X high brass 1 1/4 oz , 3 3/4 drams followed by 25 Bulk Federal 1 1/8 oz, 3 dram, 7 1/2 shot then 10 Military Grade 00 Buck by Olin Corp - no details to list except these babies we
  12. Sorry, I thought my meaning was clear. The Federal bulk pack are the preferred, cheap plinking shells to use once your gun is running as she should, but high-brass is what you should use to actually break in the gun. You'll know that your S-12 is in fact broken-in once she will cycle the cheap Federal birdshot. I advise ya to go ahead and experiment.. and check out the difference between pre-break-in and post-break-in. Fire a mag of the Federal bulk through your brand new S-12 and notice what happens, (several FTE's). Fire 20 or so high-brass shells, then try again, (fewer FTE's of
  13. Since I've fired very few sg rounds this is going to be an experience. I'll try to remember to back it out 1/2", thanks for the tip. I'm used to the tatoo's from my Title II's on full auto... .308 for sure! I think I'm supposed to keep my cheek up against the stock too.
  14. Here is what I purchased for this weekend's break-in: 20 rounds of Military Grade 00 Buck 50 rounds of Win Super X High Brass Game Loads: 1 1/4 oz, 3 3/4 dram , 6 lead shot 100 rounds of Federal Value Pack: 1 1/8 oz , 3 dram, 7 1/2 shot A friend and I are taking her out - wonder if our shoulders will hold up. Thanks again to all for the guidance!
  15. Thanks! Seems to be some varying opinions on the 1 1/8 oz vs 1 1/4 for break in. I got confused by post-apocalyptic's last post where he recommends it for breaking in or plinking then in the next sentence he mentions using 1 1/4? I guess I'll pick up a box but wait till we have 50+ rounds of hot stuff before trying the Federal....sounds like a plan!
  16. Are you sure that your Walmart doesn't carry Federal 100-round value packs of 7 1/2 birdshot? Regardless, that Federal is what I'd recommend for testing whether the gun is broken in or not and for plinking after it's broken in. To actually break the gun in, I recommend any shotshell that is 1 1/4 oz or higher, (except for slugs, 1 oz slugs are just fine, they have plenty of power). I found another Walmart with the Federal Bulk Pack. Specs: 1200 FPS , 1 1/8 OZ , 3 DRAM $20.99 / 100 - Right Stuff? I also picked up a box (25) Win Super X High Brass Game Loads: 1 1/4 oz, 3 3/
  17. Choices, choices....well since they know I have this one, Title II, with suppressor!

At least the Super Walmart I stopped at. I'll call a few of their other locations tomorrow.
  19. slyguy: can you define "heavy loads"? Do you mean 1 1/4 oz, nothing less? Sorry but I'm a newbie to SG loads!
  20. Am I right then in assuming the oz / dram is not enough to decide on?
  21. I researched the threads and found that Federal seemed to be preferred by many. I went to WallyMart and Dick's but neither have Federal. Here is what they do have in what I believe are the hotter loads: Winchester AA Light Target Load 2 3/4" , 1 1/8 oz, 2 3/4 dram in either 8 or 9 shot $9.49 box of 25 Winchester Super Target 2 3/4", 1 1/8 oz, 3 drams, 8 shot - 1200 fps $29.99 box of 100 Winchester Super X 2 3/4" , 1 1/4 oz, no dram on box, 7 1/2 shot "High Brass" $15.99 box of 25 Those Super X are a lot more expensive! Would you recommend any of the above? I want to
  22. Should we stay with blue or red locktite on the screws after moving the trigger guard?
  23. My local Wallymart carries only the brass Blazer but I picked up some aluminum online. Absolutely no problem with either in my Glock 21. I will not use the aluminum if in my MP5K especially in full auto. I do use Blazer brass 9mm in f/a without ever a single issue.
  24. Don't know what you want to pay or if you want plinking or defensive ammo. For range time: Blazer aluminum - works great in my Glock http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?conte...amp;src=tpCtgAm or Wolf & Speer Gold Dot: http://www.ammoman.com/index.htm
