  1. Hello all, I've asked a similar question before, but wanted to be more specific this time. I'm wanting to shorten my 410 barrel to 18.25" not really for the cool factor, it just honestly feels like it needs to be a couple inchs shorter! (measures about 20 3/8" right now) Now cutting it is no problem, and I'm not concerned with cycling problems (runs perfect on both settings), but I would need to re thread the thing to use chokes. Not being a machine shop expert, I don't know the best way I would go about that? I suppose I could remove the barrel and put it in a lathe and go by the cut
  2. I actually did have to shave the back of the topside of the feed lips down to be able to load the mag with the bolt closed, and its a very tight click, still. I took the mag apart and nothing out of the ordinary in there. I'm a little lost on the sanding treatment though. exactly what peices could be sanded? Is there a possibility that some of these guns may have an improved feedramp or something? seems my gun is a bit different than most I seen.
  3. ok I just found their catalogue, and it says 10,12 and 15 round models. I can almost fit 16,so I'm gonna say it is indeed a 15 rounder. Now that thats cleared up, the top 5, every single time, will not feed, I always have to take the top 5 rounds out before it will feed. I'm running Remington 3" 1135FPS 11/16oz #5shot Game Loads, and I've ruined several of them trying to get the top 5 to load. Its the only ammo I've been able to try. You can see a gap between the top shell and the 2nd when more than 10 are loaded, get down to 10, and the gap is smaller, the shell angled upwards as it belo
  4. Wow, I thought it was an error when I seen that price. I would trade my convert in for this gun any day. They will shoot shorter shells with the proper magazine, correct? The non adjustable gas block is one item what brings up this concern.
  5. I have the G2 410x76 magazine and I suppose it was advertised as a 10 round magazine, I'm not really sure as it was a gift. However loading it up, I can fit a comfortable 15 rounds in it. The last 5 have an obviously different feed angle while sitting in the feed lips, and will not feed. It seems odd to me that the magazine could be designed like this. Is there anything I can do to get more than 10 in this SureFire magazine?
  6. Something I always think about when contemplating a defense weapon is killing my children or the neighbors through the wall. I'm pretty sure, unless the perp is severly doped up, that he is not going to rush towards the gun thats shooting him, reguardless of the caliber. How much power do you think it takes to kill someone exactly? I'd feel just fine with a 22 pistol, as long as it was semi auto, and held several rounds, (in case of a miss or returned fire). A miss is a miss, I find more comfort in a quick 2nd shot than hoping the powerful first shot makes its target. Tell me, since this se
  7. I havnt checked what type of porting my gun has,but I'm thinking a couple inches wouldnt really make a big difference. I checked the SBS thread and it didnt really help me much. while on the subject, would it be worth it to thread the barrel for more conventional chokes if I was to chop it down to 18?
  8. Do most guns already have the grip nut hole in the receiver already? I had to cut mine but didnt notice you list that step.
  9. I received my Saiaga 410 as a gift. It was somthing I never would've thought of buying for myself, but when I got it, I really liked the concept of it. However it didnt feel right in my hands. Of course, having owned other AK guns, and having a pistol grip on every other gun I own, I knew about the converted Saigas. I finally got around to doing mine, and LOVE it. I was kinda confused abou the process until I decided to just start taking it apart for myself and find out what needed to be done, rather than going in with a checklist that someone else wrote. Within a couple hours I had the fab don
  10. Wow, my son is 7 and has rarely shot a 22 (on the bench, with me behind him) I'm gonna have to whip him into gator killing shape!
  11. Wow, I didn't think of that. From what I see, the 410 came in 2 or 3 different lengths. I wonder what might be different between them,or if all 3 barrels are all in the acceptable range. I got the conversion finished I learnt alot and had fun doing it.and spent hardly anything. I really like the pull with the single hook AK trigger and a polished hammer
  12. Hey guys, I'm new to the forums, been aware of this site for awhile though. I have a 410 Saiga I received as a gift, it wasnt anything I would've thought I'd buy for myself, but I fell in love with it. I'm just now getting around to pistol gripping the thing and have the feeling I'm going to want to shorten the barrel when thats done. I've seen the gas block swaps and they look awsome (props to the guys on here doing them!) but I think I will stick with the adjustable for now.Either way, I know the front is still going to seem on the big side for me.. My question is, who has shortened
