  1. The Mag has been sold! Thanks for your alls help.
  2. I just bought 780 Rounds of Czech Silver Tip 7.62x54 from SOG. It is non corrosive and some of the best cleanest shooting 54 russian ammo I have ever seen. I suggest you all get some before its gone. Some of it is corrosive other mildly corrosive. The kind I bought said non corrosive and was 98 dollars after shipping. I know its non corrosive cause my rifles are still in one piece and not all corroded up. It comes in this cool green wooden box and sealed up ina tin can. If you work it out its less than 3 dollars a box and thats alot of shooting for the money. As far as comparing the .
  3. I am right handed and shoot left handed (don't ask) and I have no problems. Then only realy problem if you can call it that is that your rail mounted scopes usually are to the left of the rifle just a tad. This makes your lean the rifle just slightly to the left and cants the crosshairs. I thought it was the scope at first but after calling the Kalinka people I realized what my problem was. To solve it instead of leaning the rifle to meet my eye I had to lean over the rifle a little more to compensate. This is a little annoying at first but if you can get used to the .308 Saigas upward t
  4. I was under the impression that .308 Galil mags would fit in a .308 Saiga Rifle with little or no improvisation but alas I am wrong. I looked at it and found that I am either going to have to grind alot out of the rifle or do some kind of mod on the mag and I am not willing to do either since I invested too much in both. I am going to get rid of the mag. If any of you are handier than I and want to give this 12 Round Preban .308 IMI Galil mag a try then send me an email. I have not done anything to it yet. I haven't hacked on it or anything. It's in perfect shape and has the IMI 1986 mar
  5. K-var is used by AK USA for their parts I believe and on the Kvar website they have a front site with a threaded end on it to facilitate a compensator for AK-74's. I am assuming if you pressed off the saigas front site you could put one of these in its place and then you would be able to add your compensator. I am going to have to get one because the muzzle blast is very distracting through the scope. It lights up the entire field of view. I don't think you are allowed to have a barrel with a threaded end so a person might have to weld it on to make it permanent I think.
  6. I am spreading the word to whoever will listen to go and buy these gems while they are still cheap. If you put it in perspective you can go out and buy a Mosin Nagant M44 for about 100 bucks in decent shape but you can get a Saiga rifle brand new for a little over 50 bucks more! There isnt a single rifle today that can match the bang for the buck that Saiga delivers. But you already know that.
  7. As far as horror stories I also heard one story. I certainly cant vouch for these guys but my package came in about 10 days and was undamaged. My only complaint was that the instructions were in russian and I had to go to the website to learn a thing or two about the scope and how the mount works. The scope comes from a factory somewhere in the Gulag or something so I'm guessing they don't have the best of post offices.
  8. Im looking for a tactical rail so I can mount a flashlight etc. on my Desert Eagle .40 S&W? Anyone know where I can get one?
  9. Well I just broke down and went to buy an AK-74 mag and test it myself. This one is steel and I got it for 20 bucks. I guess thats not bad I don't know. Anyway, it in fact does not fit. Comes really close though.
  10. Get used to it. It doesn't seem to affect the function of the rifle one bit. Steel casings work best in these but brass is ok too as long as its not garbage ammo. We got some .223 REM winchester brand shells marked MADE IN ISRAEL and they were junk. Jammed about every other round. WOLF and SILVER BEAR are really good and cheap. The action is hard on the brass and will chew it up mercilessly. I hope you are not planning to reload! But with ammo as cheap as it is for these guns its hardly necessary or cost effective to reload anyway.
  11. www.kalinkaoptics.com has some awesome scopes. I have one myself and it is great. You see alot of the kalinka scopes elsewhere but usually they are marked up a good bit. I saw someone trying to sell a 4 x24 posp scope for 285 dollars! Rediculous. Anyway the scopes at kalinka optics are really nice scopes for the money. I am definaltly going to get another one.
  12. Will a AK-74 Bakelite mag fit AND feed in a Saiga .223? A regular AK-47 steel mag will fit like it was made for the Saiga .223 oddly enough but of course its the wrong caliber. I can't see why the 5.45 mags of a AK-74 wouldn't work. If they do work I am going to forego getting my AR-15 and just mod this Saiga to death.
