I love the grip on mine. I didn't think I was going to, but I do. It also protects my fingers from burning on the Ultimak: I did have to make some mods to make it hold firm though. What were the mods???

How does one go about doing that? Here ya go. http://forum.novarata.net/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1487 Much thanks.. Little OT here, but that is a nice option. Anyone have any pics of this done on a saiga? Makes me wonder what the longest flash hider is I could get. To help eat up some of the barrel sticking out after doing this gas/fsb combo. Any input? K-var sells a neat 4.5" krinkov style flash hider that goes on 21mm rh threads. But I assume you would have to cut your barrel and recrown it to eat up some of it's length. There is also the 4 piece bulgarian f

Exactly. I'm pretty sure I can tap that bad spot back in. In hindsight this really should've never happened. When the pins didn't come out easily I should've waited to review the tutorials again. Hopefully all ends up well.

You know what man, that is exactly what I did(or didn't do). I had went over the conversion before I went to work. I did the drilling of the rivets for the original trigger with my shops drill press(which is why I did the conversion at the shop, I didn't have some of the tools, and they were available at the shop). In my haste to get the job done, I forgot about the gd retaining wire. Does that come out easily? I was at work so I didn't have access to the net, or the tutorials. (My boss is pretty cool with me bringin in projects). *SIGH*. I guess I've learned a valuable lesson. When you work

Hello all. I'm doing my first conversion on a 5.45 and 7.62. Everything went smoothly until I came to the part where you punch out the 2 axis pins holding the fcg. The rivets drilled out fine, but the axis pins would NOT come out with a BFH and a punch. I have read that sometimes "something" can bind the pins, but the descriptions I have read have never been specific as to what. I could'nt find anything so I proceeded to keep on banging the hell out of the pins. I have watched videos on the conversion and read 2-3 different write ups on them and they all show the pins coming out fairly easily.

Thanks for the responses. The sight I'm looking for is actually integrated into the gas block. I'll find a pic and post it. Here is what I am looking for.......... http://www.k-var.com/shop/product.php?productid=16563&cat=290&page=1

Hello, longtime lurker first time poster here. I've visited these forums for about the past 5 years and have finally purchased a Saiga product. I got a good price on a 7.62 and a 5.45, and should have them shortly. I will be doing my own conversion, and am pretty darn excited about it. My first question is about a gas block with a front sight on it. Is anyone aware of a place to obtain these for a decent price? I am aware of krebs offering a product, but it is 80.00, and I'd like to know if there are any surplus ones available. I am not sure of what model of ak's came with these, but I do know
