  1. I think most of those on here forget that this study, does not go to congress for a vote. It goes directly to the AG for his signature. So with a stroke of a pen our 2A rights are severely limited. And if this gets off, then the next step is for any firearm that is not for sporting or hunting purposes to be banned. Yes, the supreme court ruled in our favor, but how many years will it take to hear another case once the oxygen thieves have crippled our 2A and our rights. You seem to forget that during a national emergency the president, under powers granted to him under the patriot act, like a d
  2. Frik, I don't believe your opinions are crazy. I am in agreement with you that this is nothing but a back door gun ban. All of the gun shops in my area have taken any and all saiga's and their accessories off their shelves. Even the gun show last weekend had nothing for the Saiga's. I believe that all the sunny days and rainbows that others keep touting is nothing more than a pipe dream. The fact is this, the establishment and wall street wants these and other scary looking non sporting firearms OFF the market. They want all firearms in the hands of it's citizens TAKEN AWAY, because if and
  3. Right now I have a choke on it and am happy with that. But was debating about switching to a flash hider that did work.
  4. I need an honest answer here. Do the flash hiders for the saiga 12 really work to dissipate gas and reduce muzzle flash or are they just for show? And if they do work, which one is the best choice for muzzle flash? Thanks
  5. With things the way they are now, I would not cut the barrel down.
  6. Friked Is right. The ATF is bypassing congress with this study by being able to have the Attorney General sign off on it due to the Patriot Act. This has nothing to with sporting or hunting purposes, it is a ploy to separate law abiding citizens from their weapons and 2nd amendment rights. And once they get this, then they will ban everything. Light rails on handguns will be considered bayonet lugs, hi cap mags gone, more people out of work, the feds are afraid that an uprising like in Egypt will happen here, and they want nothing more than unarmed protestors standing against armed police/
  7. I have used both the 5 setting manual plug from MD Arms & the 4 setting T.G.R.S. from Tac-47. both are good plugs and work well. Right now, for the price I would say get the MD Arms plug, 20 plus shipping is damn good. I prefer the TGRS plug because the center counter bore hole is not as deep as the MD Arms, making it thicker and stronger in my opinion. But both will serve your purposes without fail.
  8. Teflon/Moly over park is a very durable finish. As long as all the prep work is done completely and correctly you will have a pretty indestructible finish. Make sure to degrease very, very, very, well after park before applying any finish. That being said, you can ceracoat over park too, which will be just as tough if not tougher than the teflon/moly over park. The choice is yours, and both are good choices, I've used teflon/moly over park for years and I have not been disappointed. Just started using Cerakote and I am happy with that as well. I will say, that so far, the teflon/moly goe
  9. Setting 5 on gas plug to run 00 buck and slugs=undergassed system. That should be for low brass, very low power stuff. Polishing the bolt, carrier, and stuff does help things to run smoothly, when everything is working fine. I agree with other posters, you have a vodka special and the gas ports need to be opened up. As far as comparing the S12 to Benelli; while I do love the Saiga, you are not comparing apples to apples on that one. Have your gas ports opened to the correct size by someone who is competent in doing so, and good luck with your S12.
  10. The auto plug seems like a good thing, but only time will tell if it is as reliable as the ARGO system used by Benelli for the M4. I cannot comment on the Gunfixer plug as I do not have one nor have I seen one to make any comparison on. The Saiga 12 TRGS plug and the V-plug are quality products. There are things I like about both, things I don't like about both, and the more gas settings within reason, the better. Meaning you can have more variety in the types of ammo used. I intend to do some testing of both of these plugs with non lethal ammo, like bean bags, rubber rounds, and so on.
  11. I am not starting this thread to start any crap between two companies. I think MD Arms and Tac-47 are great companies that make great products and both Mike and Jarred are awesome to speak with in person. These are just my observations of both of their hand adjustable gas plugs for the Saiga 12. V-plug: Pros: Appears to be well made and machined out of solid steel. Easy to adjust by hand without any tools. Easy to install. 5 different gas settings. Instructions on how to use. And I was able to fire everything from Federal 4 shot 1320 FPS, Federal 6 shot 1290 FPS, Remington 6 shot
  12. I have the Tac-47 hand adjustable plug. It works great. My Saiga can cycle anything with it set to the proper setting. The only reason I ordered the MD Amrs hand adjustable one is that it has 5 settings instead of 3-4. So I will say nothing bad about both of them as they are great products. The auto plug, I am still unsure about, mainly because I have been in pucker situations before. And the more things that can go wrong with something, the more it will go wrong when you need it most. So the auto plug is not for me. Good luck guys MD Arms and Tac-47, I think you guys both make great p
  13. I already had the Tac-47 hand adjustable plug with 3-4 settings. It worked great but IMHO a little overpriced. When I saw that Mike had his on sale and with 5 settings, was a no brainer, ordered it. Will sell the other to a friend of mine.
  14. To answer some of your questions. Had surgery earlier this summer on my AC and rotor cup, so I feel for you man. Do the physical therapy after it's healed or surgery and you will see improvements. Gas puck works, I installed the twister puck standard in mine and I do notice it running cleaner. I put the hand adjustable gas plug in Tac-47 makes one or MD Arms which is having a slae right now for $20 and free shipping. I like the hand adjustable one it makes it more like a FN FAL. Not too much out yet on the self regulatory one so I think I will wait. That is all for now and all I can
  15. I use a SGM modified choke on mine, I shoot #4, #6, and 00 buck shot through mine. Works great and patterns well too.
