  1. here it is , i have a lot of experience with metal so i didnt bubba the bullet guide haha
  2. I just got my Saiga back from Cadiz. They fixed the sight which can be seen in Saiga Sight Issue thread. Tom Cole fixed it up nice with zero charge. It took quite a while but well within the 30-45 day time frame. As soon as it shipped i orgered my parts from CSS. I made my own bullet guide and got the Tapco SAW grip, origal stock, and g2 FCG. I heard bad things about the tapco stock but it feels solid. reusing saiga screws is a must the ones that come with the tapco are dinky. I really like the trigger too even though i forgot to put in disconnect spring . all better now though. this rifle is
  3. 20 inch on a 308 definatly. on a x39 the velocity gain is not nearly worth what is lost in mobility.
  4. Bagman just remember if the SHTF these idiots Will probably die first:)
  5. Lots and lots of ammo will make it Better than it already is.
  6. I too like to keep things local but they want 19.99 for surplus 30 rounders and 19.99 for tapcos...no thanks
  7. Hey guys what are the best prices out there for mags? AIM seems to be low at 7.95 but they want $13 shipping! I'm thinking about sportsmans guide.
  8. Fyi.... To use a us bittstocl you will also need to change out trigger group(3parts) and add pistol grip(1part) ...this could allow you to use any magazine you wanted
  9. Yes but this prevents ou from being able to use surplus stee mags which are readily available and much cheaper. I'd prefer to be compaint not even including the three magazine parts so I'd stay complaint no matter what magazine I find.
  10. Raa makes a Stock similar to the one pictured but doesn't require you to move fcg forward like the one picked does if you wanted something like that you will need to convert your rifle. I think swapping a barrel is a big job on an ak. I'm still green to so I'm not sure but I think it would require riveting and would be better to be done by a gunsmith
  11. IMO dimples defiantly provide some more strength to the receiver. Just like rolling a bead on any sheetmetal any type of impression or bead will streghthen a long span of unsupported flat steel. I got mine (feb09 manufacture) with dimples. Pghole. Chamber step. Threaded. Round trunnion. Chamber step I'm not nuts about. But also not a deal breaker. Fun talking point with buddies how it's there because it's real Russian and the russqin govnt put it there to tell the difference between military and civilian fired cases. Doesn't get more true Russian than that.
  12. Valid point. Some said in another thread that looked like ballistic data for the x54 not x39. Is it confirmed that that is for x39?
  13. Excuse my ignorance but are you sighted in at 25 meters on the 1 setting or all the back on the bz setting? The way I'm reading what your post is you started at 25m on the 1 setting then Fine tuned on 1 setting at 100m. And you were happy with the battle zero setting from 30 to 100 yards?I'm just confused on wether I should be adjusting my front sight on the bz,1, or 2 setting?
  14. so the russian ak manual say to zero at 25meters on the 100m setting or the all the way back battle zero setting?
  15. I should be getting my rifle back soon and when i do im going to sight it in. Ive done a bunch of searching but it seems that i always get one of two results. zero from 25m on 100m setting or zero from 25m on 200m setting... which did you guys choose and why
  16. thanks alot for your help and quick replies guys. this place is excellent.
  17. hello Just an update and a few more quick questions for you guys. Called up Vicki and she said they would make it right I'm shipping the gun tomorrow so lets hope the turn around is quick because i really like shooting this thing. I'm putting up a few more pics because I''m not sure if these are issues i should also have addressed. One rivet near the the trunnion, doesn't seem like it has been pressed at all really. i included this in my note enclosed with the rifle. The other question i had is if the gas piston to bolt carrier threads ar
  18. Is this directed at me? I am simply apologizing for placing this on a public forum that's my fault I should have called. But in no way am trying to "-1" CSS. His service is excellent and responce time ninjaesque. I do not expect every rifle to be inspected. I just real like this rifle and want to convert it and shoot the hell out of it. Can't blame me For that right?
  19. Thanks a lot for the quick responce Greg. CSS does rock and I'm not trying to tarnish you In any way. Just frustrated that's all. Imgunna contact Vicki tomorrow. Anyone know the turnaround on this stuff? Think they'll fix or replace it?
  20. Hello guys I have been watching here for quite a while trying to figure out which rifle I should purchase.(I have mostly been a handgun guy up until now). Well needless to say i ended up going with the Saiga x39 ordered from CSS. I picked this rifle up at my dealers yesterday. And overall I am very happy with it(dimples,pg hole, and barrel appears to be threaded.) I just have one problem, it seems like my front sight is very canted. I fired the rifle yesterday and it functioned great. except my POI was high and right and it also was for my friend. I am posting some pics..(bear with
  21. hey guys just ordered my first Saiga x39 after weeks and weeks of research on which rifle to buy. decided with cost/reliabliltyammo/ etc this was the best bet. I'm going to convert it myself which i have also done a bunch of research on. going to start with buttstock/PG trigger group bullet guide and US mags just becuase money is tight. gunna do foregrip and optics later. ordered from CSS because all the great things i saw on here!
