  1. After a snowy week stuck indoors, I have everything for the conversion ordered, finally, thanks Dinzag! Primary Weapons FSC47 coming along with some Tapco 30 round mags I got a deal on. Went with dark earth Tapco furniture. Saiga X39 on its way from St. Louis. I've watched all the tech vids and I'm pretty sure I got it. ight not attempt the barrel threading, undecided still. Only thing I have not found much on the is the mag catch mod. Does anyone have a DIY or a video for our caliber? Thanks!
  2. You're asking for trouble asking it that way. You could spend ~150 bucks or less and get a nice basic conversion that would be very functional. Or you could buy a Magpul Stock, Red Star Arms trigger, Ultimak quad rail forearm, Hogue pistol grip with a toolkit inside, Krebs beryl rail topped off with an ACOG, and a PWS FSC 47 muzzle brake, which could cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $1500-2000 on top of the rifle. Obviously that goes beyond the basic conversion, but that's kind of my point. It depends on YOUR priorities and what you need. There's garbage, there's fu
  3. There's garbage, there's functional, there's top of the line, and then there's overpriced whiz-bang stuff that MUST be the best if they're asking THAT for it. I'm more into the top of the line, not most expensive, specifically: trigger/fire control group & the necessary conversion parts that are high quality, compensator / flash hider, that which deals with feeding bullets non stop, I will put an EOTech on it so I'll need some rail of some sort, techy furniture is my very last worry. Does that help? I need suggestions....
  4. Cool! I will watch the show and talk to the manufacturer here in town about it.....they'll say no if it's wasting my coin to do so....I'm just amazed at the blast and fireball from some of these AKs......but I'm new.
  5. Looks like I just won a 16" Saiga 7.62 on GB for $385........w00t!
  6. I'd love to know the full parts list you employed, and costs......sorry if you have to repost from the "Let's See Your....." thread.
  7. Being in the same spot myself , and with a Saiga 16" 7.62X39 on order, and facing the conversion......can anyone give me a number $ wise on doing the conversion with the highest quality parts? I'll be using search but that would be awesome if someone could just give an idea. I'm weighing best quality conversion parts and my time, versus just waiting & buying the Arsenal. I am not worried about "true to the AK heritage" stuff either. I don't want to spend the same amount on a conversion as an Arsenal.
  8. Guns stuck in customs as of today per Mike @ Aof A. Few weeks he says.
  9. I found one online for $385 and might buy it. I'm not all too keen on waiting......can you cancel easily with Mike at AofA?
  10. Thanks for doing that detective work, Wulf....much appreciated. I just emailed Mike.
  11. I realize it will cost more than my modded 7.62 Saiga, but I have a local source who sells PVS, ANVS, etc. milspec night vision devices, and while at their shop last week I found out they also make suppressors. To cap off a kick ass modded Saiga 16" 7.62, would a suppressor be just nuts or what? Again, I realize this is expensive, but does anyone run one on their Saiga rifle? Even with that cost, I am still below a high quality AR upper from La Rue, LMT, etc. If you have one I'd love to hear about it. Newb, out!
  12. Just pre-ordered a 7.62 with 16" barrel from Arms of America for $335. This will be my hog gun for night vision monocular hunting out at the ranch. Otherwise I hunt with a longbow.....yes I am nuts. The low price and functionality made me bite on an AK, and Saigas look to be the best for the $. I'm mechanically inclined so of course I'll convert it. All my buddies run super high dollar ARs....waste of money for 30 yard shots on hogs that have no clue you are there, if you ask me. So, I'm gonna assemble the parts to convert in the interim. I'm not terribly cost conscious about t
  13. I had to pre-order from Arms of America, but damn, the price was right. No screwing with a gun show and wasting time, just sent to FFL and done. Here in Dallas shops are asking $499 for Century AKs......
  14. Mine is on pre-order.........A of A. $335.......can't wait. Just gotta figure out where to get my conversion bits. New to the site!
