  1. Thank you. I think if he wants one he better get it now.
  2. Finnaly I have only been after him for a year. Who has them? Early in the summer I had seen them every where for $300 or so. Havent found one yet. Are they running low gain?
  3. Its time to get a bullet guide on my Saiga. I have one coming and 3x 30 round AK mags from Carolina shooters supply. Question is will these very expensive Saiga mags I have still work after the installation or am I open for a trade?
  4. Ok here is what we do. To stop the meth head who made it in the house. I have a old Remington 1148 that I cut the barrel to 18 1/2 inches. I chose this gun because. well... I had it and there is no real collector or hunting value to this gun. 2 3/4 inch w/full choke they are just not using these for hunting any more. Its a semi auto so the wife is not afraid of it. Loaded with 00 buck at close range not much will stay up after that.If you shop around you can find one for about $150. If the shot gun is not appropriate but I still want to lay a thumping to put a hyped up intruder down. I h
  5. If you really want your weapon to shoot the best it can. You need to slug the barrel. You take a soft lead ball and push it through your barrel. Then you measure it. 7.62 can measure any where from .308 inch to .314 inch. After you know the exact size of your barrel. Lets say it .311 inch. Then get a sample of various brands of ammo and measure it. You will find that it is also all over the map with size. Even the same box will give you different sizes. If your barrel measures .311 find that brand that uses bullets that measure .312 Even then measure all the bullets. They will range from .3
  6. Pretty sure they are. I bet I had the plate installed incorrectly and didn't know it. After reassembly I put it together correctly. Seems plausible any way.
  7. Dang it thats a good video. I did have that plate installed. But maybe I had it in incorrectly. Not sure how it could be installed incorrect. But after I swapped the pins. It did snap like the video says. the 1st time I dont recall that happening.
  8. Nice job, but no you cannot do that. You're missing the axis pin retaining spring/plate, or have yours installed wrong. It's an easy fix, and cheap. The plates are the easiest to install, and cost usually under $10. Most AK retaining plates should work. For further instructions, look at the videos on CSS's website. I figured it out. You must have to put the same pin in the same hole. I took it apart and reassembled with the pins swapped. And it stays in just fine. I did use the retaining plate. Those pins look the same to me...... Go figure.
  9. So happy I could spit a 7.62x39 Got her done this morning. I purchased the basic kit from Carolina shooter supply. The only issue I had from the kit was the trigger guard. The front hole didn't match up exact. I had to bend it a little to get the screw through. I don't have a dremel tool but I do have a Die grinder for my air tank. That made short work of the rivets. Here is a photo. I can now show with my 20 round mag as it is compliant now. Photo is not the best. Wife ran off with the digi. This is from my phone. Latter COZ
  10. Yes that is true. I can tell all ready he is going to be a crack shot. he picks up what I teach him real fast. But..... I really wanted to start this exercise with a display of my awesomeness. Oh well it is what it is. Although he is seeing how fast i am picking it back up and thats kinda pushing him. He has seen a couple groups I am capable of. Enough any way he quit giving me crap when I complain about his hold.
  11. What do you guys think of that Golden Tiger ammo? I tried a few boxes of it today and it seems pretty energetic. I wasn't trying for accuracy but I hit every thing I was shooting at and I noticed a defiant different effect on the targets. Kinda like it. I want to 2nd post-apoc on GT ammo. it is, so far, the ONLY ammo I could see myself buying in bulk (I have a Yugo brass milsurp crate sealed for SHTF, though). I love the way it shoots. it's never "expensive" like domestics (I can always grab it for $5/box locally if I don't plan ahead and order online. the only other ammo I'v
  12. Question for you guys that roll your own. What and from whom cast Bullets do you use? Also whats a good powder to use? I figure a good cast bullet for a hog should work just as well on a white tail deer. Looking for similar results as a 3030 ish type load. I am just learning about hand loading and starting to collect some equipment. Tried my hand at some .38 special. Not very good results yet but I will learn. Thanks
  13. I think I may order a case or two. When I say it was energetic on the target I mean in a obvious way. Was just shooting a at plastic jugs. They were getting knocked 30 feet in the air from a hit. kinda neat.
