  1. My Saiga met all the requirements and sure enough, a bit of work with a pipe cutter and I exposed threads underneath. Installed a J-Tac 47 brake on there with a crush washer. I made sure to measure the depth of thread on the brake before setting the pipe cutter, though. If I had cut as far back as possible, I would have bottomed the thread of the compensator before getting to the crush washer.
  2. Best of luck getting the rear sight to drift in either direction! After tapping as hard as I felt comfortable with a punch set and a baby sledge, I ended up hacksawing the old sight out. Getting the Krebs sight into the dovetail was a bit of an adventure as well!
  3. Here's a few things I've learned putting a Magpul AFG on my SGM foreend on my Saiga 7.62x39. -As Greg stated, there is no sling loop on the SGM foreend. Furthermore, if you're going to put one of the Magpul AFG grips on it, it's going to occupy pretty much all of the lower rail space, so any rail sling attachment is going to have to go on the side. -Get the AFG V2 (the smaller one). There's not a lot of rail space on the front, and the AFG I puts it really far forward. I used a Dremel and made two diagonal cuts on the top of the rail interface of the AFG II to allow it to sit even furt
  4. Just did this mod on a S-12 and my 7.62x39 Saigas over the weekend. Easy enough to do. Dremel cutting disc and then touching up with the grinding head make it easy enough! It is a bit disconcerting to start doing irreparable modifications to one's receiver, though!
