  1. Nice project Pop the sight block, and chop that barrel down to 16 1/2" or so and re-crown it with a muzzle tool from Brownell's. It would look far more evil...
  2. Had to add this, I was in a local gun shop today and they were asking $350 for a plain 7.62x39 Saiga. $350 - written out on a tag. I asked the guy if it was a mistake, because it's a < $150 wholesale rifle...he shrugged and grinned. That's bold - and reinforces the fact that it pays to do your homework before buying anything...
  3. Hi All - I recently unloaded (haha) a WASR-10 HC and am interested in a Saiga 7.62. I love my Saiga 308, and I will eventually have to collect them all. The 7.62 will be converted to an evil "assault weapon" in late September if all goes well. I'm interested in picking one up thru one of my local FFLs. Which wholesalers/distributors have them in stock lately? Does CDNN even carry them anymore? I've seen 'Dunham's' mentioned but that seems to be a sporting goods store, and we don't have any around here...and the local Cabela's wanted $300 for a USED one last time I looked
  4. KySoldier - I am selling my SAR-3 first. It's .223, has a bulgarian AK74 bolt+carrier modified to work with the SAR-3 (works better than new), plus the original bolt and carrier. Gordon Tech trigger, and finished in dark park AlumaHyde II. Not sure if I want to sell it with the original wood or black plastic yet. I have 4 Weiger mags to go with it too. Haven't decided where to sell it yet, but I'd like to get at least $450 for the modified rifle and mags. I also have a WASR-10 hi cap that is a great shooter, might hang on to it for a while. Depends on how I like the Saiga 7.6
  5. Must get the 7.62x39 and a .223 to go with the 16" .308 I got last week. I'm selling my Romanian AKs (and an AR lower) to go Saiga. Why own Romanian when you can have a real, made-in-Russia AK action? The Saiga receivers, fit and finish, etc are so much better than Romanian. I plan on converting at least two of the three to pistol grip config.
  6. Little thing called "search" helped me out LOL Both questions answered. 1) Yes to the standard AK FCG - but in pistol grip configuration 2) Mags - CDNN Any other reasonable mag sources besides CDNN?
  7. New to Saiga ownership, but have owned and tweaked AKs for a couple years now. Picked up my 16" 308 today. Looking forward to modifying it a little - it's the perfect semi auto scout rifle... Couple of newbie questions Will a standard AK FCG (Red Star arms in particular) work in the 308 once a pistol grip is installed? Where can I find spare mags? Just need one or two. Thanks, will post range report and pics as soon as I can get it out PVG

    twist?

Not sure, haven't picked mine up yet...but I can help you with finding out... Take a good quality rotating cleaning rod with a patch on it, insert into the bbl from the chamber end, note how many times it has rotated once you see the patch start to come out of the muzzle, divide into the BBL length, and there you have it. 16" - if it completely rotates 2 times, 16/2=8, roughly a 1 in 8 twist PVG
  9. Hello all...I have a WASR hi cap and want to go the SAIGA route asap....planning on converting to pistol grip. Should be a fun project. It will complement the bulgarian 74 that I'm building now. Saw a SAIGA at a gunshow a few weeks ago and was impressed with the quality, compared to the Romanian rifles. JA, yes it's based on the 100 series. 90 degree gas block and other AK74-type details.... ASSASSIN - how do you come to own a semi-auto rifle in the UK? That entire class of firearms (outside of rimfires) have been banned since the UK tightened up the gun laws, right? Just curious
