  1. Finally took the new toy to the range on Saturday... I must say, I'm very happy with the 50 yd grouping. Used Wolf 122gr HP with a Sightmark reflex sight. Now to decide what my next Saiga should be...
  2. +1 for just shooting the damn thing and sighting in.
  3. On the 7.62x39 round trunnion rifles, the right hand edge of the relief area (the little cut-out notch at the front that slides under the barrel) should line up with the raised step in the chamber face at about a 4 o'clock position. Be careful that it doesn't go to the right of that boundary or the bolt may hang up on it. Just from what I've read, and just installed one. Your mileage may vary.
  4. Dinzag has kits, but if you're itching to get it done, they say to allow 2 weeks for order processing... Carolina Shooter Supply had the kit to my door in 3 days.
  5. Does your Saiga have a round or flat trunnion?
  6. That's what it looks like. I guess I've always had reservations about tinkering with the mechanical parts that make it go boom... But then again, this is my first AK platform; I've been amazed at the simplicity, having only dealt with the AR platform in the past. Probably going to order parts next payday!
  7. Yeah, another amateur gunsmithing adventure for another day... I had enough reservations installing the bullet guide and modding the mag catch for the first time!
  8. Just converted mine that I picked up last Sunday. Manufacture date was 6/11, flat trunnion. Installation was a bit of a bi**h, I had to file a considerable amount off the sides to make it fit.
  9. Hey all... First post, but I've been gathering info from the boards for a while. Many thanks for all the great posts that helped me get my new 7.62x39 back to its AK roots: Before, during and after pics:
